This weekend is a little bit different to any we’ve dealt with this year. First of all, Saturday is Heritage Day in South Africa, as well as National Braai Day, so we’ll be reflecting on our roots and cooking up a storm to celebrate!
Also, it’s the last weekend before rAge 2011 kicks off on September 30th in Johannesburg next week, and there’s still a bit of preparation work to be done before we’re set and ready for our showing at the event.
We’ll be at Stand 28, so if you’re in the area and want to see the latest games and gadgets, and you want to snag a bunch of prizes with El33tonline, stop by and say hi!
But that’s next weekend. What are members of El33tonline busy with this weekend?
“It’s the weekend again and I’ll be spending it organising even more awesome giveaways for our rAge stand next week. There’s still lots of prep to do, even though we’re in our final stages now. Can’t wait to share more with you so stay tuned for a few peeks into what we have in store for you! We’re going to tease you all week long – don’t blame me, it was Oliver’s idea J
“The Springboks have a rest this weekend so that clears the calendar for gaming. It’s a fight for attention between GOW 3 and Resistance 3 and there ain’t no easy choice to be made. Finished the campaign on both and loving the multiplayer modes on both. Sadly I may not be able to choose and could end up working on my acceptance speech for brightest, noisiest, largest mosh pit stand at rAge. Wish me luck p33ps.
Have a great one and hope to meet you all next weekend!”
So, the highlight of my weekend will be celebrating the birthday of a great friend in whatever weather we’re presented with, rain or shine, and perhaps sharing a few matches of Resistance 3 and Gears of War 3 over the next two days, too.
I’ll also be investing a lot more time in that latter title to get some thoughts in order for a review, and I may just have a peek at this Burnout Crash! game that I’ve heard so much about.
Lastly, I’ll be trying to relax (just a little) ahead of an extremely busy week of preparation for rAge 2011 – be sure to visit El33tonline at Stand 28, you hear! You’ll be glad you did.
“My holiday in Banoi turned out to be a little more than I bargained for. Bit off more than I could chew, so to speak. I knew there was a reason the concierge was unhelpful and now I know why! He was one of those pesky zombies! Not to fear, I put the janitor’s broomstick to good defensive use and skidaddled out of there.
And no, I didn’t pay either. I was going to demand a full refund but when I discovered the front desk staff had all lost their composure (um, they were decomposed) I decided not to bother with any more anxious disputes and quietly left through the fire escape. Luckily I didn’t need to venture into the jungle for a way off the island because as any respectable zombie survivalist would do, I had planned an escape for just such an eventuality, and chartered the last flight off the island in the nick of time.
Turns out my timeout from writing zombie reviews for El33tonline was rather, how do I say this diplomatically now, short-lived?”
“Instead now I’ll just enjoy this weekend in the company of friends and my family back at home while I charter my next escape flight off to JHB next weekend … I hear there’s going to be some nerdfest around those parts which is a perfect opportunity for me to coordinate an inspection of my Gauteng-based zombie survival bunker. Can never be too prepared for the Zombie Apocalypse, I’ve always said!”
“This weekend I’ll be out and about in Durban and dining in style whenever the opportunity presents itself. My wife and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary hence the adventuresome nature of the break.
I’d also like to find a gap to watch the New Zealand vs. France rugby game on Saturday because if NZ once again lose to their lower ranked opponents you won’t be able to wipe the ensuing grin off my face.
The games I’m playing at the moment include Valkyria Chronicles II on PSP and God Of War III. I recently watched a fascinating PSN broadcast on the GoW series and it put me in the mood to play the third instalment of this epic franchise. There’s simply no better example of how stunning a game can look and run on PS3 if it utilises a great engine and is produced by a passionate team who are extremely attentive to detail.”
“The weekend has finally arrived.
Well the Springboks destroyed Namibia on Thursday but there are still lots of big matches this weekend that I’ll be watching.
On Saturday morning is France taking on the hosts New Zealand… we all remember what happened in the 1991 & 1997 Rugby World Cups? I hope it happens again…Go France!
Then on Sunday there are the Fiji vs Samoa and Argentina vs Scotland games. They are going to be great to watch.
I will be going to the Sharks game tonight. Hopefully it will be a good game and Sharks run all over Griquas. Sharks need to get a home semi final!”
“Games… I’ll be playing NHL 12 continuing with my season and be a pro mode. Cannot get enough of NHL, what a game! The more I play it the more I see just how amazing the game is.
Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge will also be on the cards, especially after watching all the rugby on TV.
Have a great weekend everyone!”
