Who says video games can’t change the world? The people at Valve – the company behind Half-Life and the game-changing digital distribution channel Steam – have shown their commitment to education by giving away the highly cerebral, physics-based puzzler Portal for a limited period.

The offer forms part of their ‘Learn with Portals’ initiative which seeks to “intrigue, engage and inspire” students through an interactive medium like the Portal series, while simultaneously honing their skills in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

You can download the Steam version of Portal for free over here, and remember that you have until tomorrow (20 September) before the game returns to its regular price of $19.99.
