E3 2011: Rayman Origins looks magicalWritten by: / / No Comments
We first caught a hint of Ubisoft’s Rayman Origins at E3 last year, and it’s taken a full twelve months for us to catch another helping of information for the high definition 2D platformer, but these new screenshots and gameplay videos have certainly been worth the wait!
Currently in development under the stewardship of legendary game designer Michel Ancel, Rayman Origins is a four-player cooperative game that will make its way to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and the Wii this ‘Holiday,’ and is said to be arriving on 3DS in March 2012.
The story of Rayman Origins concerns the “neffurrious” Darktoons, which have overrun the Glade of Dreams. Naturally, it’s up to Rayman to drive the Darktoons out of the Glade, but it seems as though the hero of light “isn’t quite all there.”
“To help him,” says Ubisoft, “Rayman teams up with his best friend, Globox, and two crafty wizards, the Teensies. Together, the world’s most hilarious team of heroes will need to restore peace to the Glade or watch as their beloved home vanishes like a bad dream…”
Featuring full jump-in/jump-out four-player cooperative play, and over 100 characters found across 60 levels set in 12 different environments, as well as the use of unique abilities to help Rayman and the other characters traverse the world, Rayman Origins already sounds incredible, but it’s the visuals and animation that truly set this action platform game apart from other similar titles.
