You may remember that Luigi’s Mansion was a launch title in 2001 for the GameCube. If you do then you’ll be excited to learn that the first follow-up to this popular game has just been announced.
We’re talking about Luigi’s Mansion 2, of course, which was just unveiled at Nintendo’s E3 press conference, and will be coming to the Nintendo 3DS in 2012.
Luigi’s Mansion 2 sees Mario’s brother taking centre stage as he sets out on a mission, armed only with his “trusty Poltergust ghost-sucking vacuum cleaner,” to capture a bunch of pesky ghosts from spooky mansions.
Luigi’s Mansion 2 promises to bring the mansions, ghosts and surroundings to life in 3D, with players experiencing haunting chills and fun. Be warned though, you’ll need to do more than just shine a light on ghosts to stun them ‒ you must first activate a strobe function and release it to stun the ghosts before sucking them up with the Poltergust.
Luigi will face different types of ghosts in the different mansions and must figure out how to defeat them. Along the way he’ll also discover hidden secrets to unlock new areas and treasure chests, introducing new puzzle-solving mechanics and variety for those players who played the GameCube version of the game.
Try using the Poltergust to remove wallpaper to find hidden areas, clean up piles of leaves that may be hiding treasure or to suck up coins.
