Megarom is a powerhouse of the South African game scene: this is just a fact.
Representing some of the biggest names in the videogame world (and arguably the biggest), Megarom distributes games from publishers like Activision Blizzard, Ubisoft, Rockstar and Take 2, 2K Games, Namco Bandai and NCsoft, and recently netted distribution deals for Codemasters and Square Enix.
If that’s not impressive to you, perhaps you need reminding about the kinds of games that these publishers will be releasing over the next few months, and in turn what titles Megarom will be unleashing on the South African gaming public, which is why I was incredibly excited to attend the company’s recent press event showcasing these titles, aiding as a comprehensive refresher course.
So it was that I and other South African games press (or enthusiast press, as you wish) found myself (and ourselves) at the Melrose Arch Hotel in the heart of the spectacular Melrose Arch shopping district of Johannesburg (I don’t know what else to call it other than a ‘district,’ but that place is awesome).
