The Darkness II gets worldwide release dates with new screens and debut trailerWritten by: / / No Comments
Worldwide release dates have been attached to the next quad-wielding first-person shooter from 2K Games, The Darkness II, but if you’re looking forward to slipping into the brutal and twisted personality of Jackie Estacado any time soon, you’re going to need to wait a few months yet.
You can still watch a stylish Nolan ‘Nathan Drake’ North-narrated debut trailer, though!
According to the publisher, and thanks to Jackie’s ‘Darkness’ wielding abilities, The Darkness II “breaks from the sea of conventional first-person shooters” and enables you to take control of this “ancient and ruthless force of chaos and destruction.”
2K Games also makes mention of the Quad-Wielding gameplay (that’s trademarked, by the way!) in The Darkness II which allows you to fire two weapons while simultaneously making use of two destructive ‘Demon Arms’ to “slash, grab, and throw objects.” Dark versus light gameplay is also promised, designed to “[engulf] players in a whole other level of sophisticated combat.”
Here’s the story blurb for The Darkness II:
“It’s been two years since Jackie Estacado, now the Don of the Estacado crime family, used Darkness to kill the men responsible for his girlfriend’s murder. Jackie continues to have haunting visions of his beloved Jenny since her death. He’s tried to cope by bottling up his supernatural power, and now Darkness wants out.
“A sudden, unprovoked attack on Jackie’s life heralds the start of a full-scale mob war, which has clearly been orchestrated by some outside force. The botched attempt opens the door for Darkness to reemerge, and sets Jackie on a journey to hell and worse, as he unravels the mystery behind the attack and the motivations of Darkness itself.”
In North America, The Darkness II is due for release on October 4th, and then everywhere else on October 7th, across Xbox 360, PlayStation and PC. Here’s that debut trailer:
