Remember that jaw-dropping, haunting Dead Island trailer? The one that was released yesterday? If you don’t, you’ve got the shortest of memories, but then again, maybe you’re just trying to block out the horror you may have witnessed?
Either way, you can jog your memory (and bring those repressed memories back to the surface) by eyeballing an impressive set of released screenshots for this first-person action game.
Dead Island is coming to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC this year courtesy of developer Techland (Call of Juarez) and publisher Deep Silver, and casts you as one of a group of survivors on a tropical island after a mysterious zombie outbreak runs riot.
The game will place a heavy emphasis on melee combat in the first-person, while character development and weapon customisation will also feature, all wrapped up in “a dark story inspired by classic zombie movies with a gritty and engrossing campaign that can be played with up to four players in co-op mode.”
“With the all-new Chrome Engine 5 powering Dead Island,” reads a press release, “the game will use the latest instalment of Techland’s acclaimed proprietary game engine, allowing the player to experience the tropical island paradise in graphical splendor with diverse environments like lush forests and detailed city environments.”
