“Evil: can take many forms. So: can we.”
Look forward to taking on the form of fighter jets, muscle cars, trucks and more as Activision has officially announced the “prologue videogame” Transformers: Dark of the Moon for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, as well as Wii, DS and 3DS, “in anticipation of the film” of the same name.
The videogame version of Transformers: Dark of the Moon is said to be “[b]ased on “Hasbro’s legendary Transformers property,” rather than the upcoming movie proper, with an original prologue storyline that leads into the events of the film, while revealing “another face of evil” ‒ Shockwave!
Transformers: Dark of the Moon will feature a brand-new ‘Stealth Force’ conversion mode, and will take us to places like the jungles of South America, a Siberian military facility, the cityscapes of Detroit, “and more,” and we’ll be able to take control of a few of our favourite Transformers (a “diverse roster” is promised). Online multiplayer modes are also on the cards.
“The Transformers: Dark of the Moon game will provide players with the opportunity to fight through the epic battles on Earth that will shape the events of the upcoming film,” reads a press release. “Armed with a brand-new gameplay mechanic, fans will harness the power of Stealth Force to instantly convert to a third, hybrid state that combines the weapons and firepower of robot mode with the agility and [manoeuvrability] of vehicle mode.”
Head of Marketing for Licensed Properties, Activision Publishing, Paul Wright, shed a little more light on the game while enthusing:
“We couldn’t be more excited to expand on the epic movie universe in the Transformers: Dark of the Moon game, and allow fans to experience the gripping events and backstories that occur right before the upcoming film.”
