Blizzard Entertainment has just announced that a range of exciting launch events will be taking place around the world to celebrate the release of World of Warcraft’s impending and achingly epic expansion, Cataclysm.
On December 6th, the eve of the expansion’s release, Blizzard Entertainment will be hosting several official launch events at key retail partners in the UK, US, Canada, France, Germany, Russia, Sweden, the Netherlands and the region of Taiwan, all to recognise the momentous occasion.
Sadly, South Africa has been left out of the festivities: we’re crying over here, Blizzard.
Anyways.
According to Blizzard, members of the World of Warcraft development team will be in attendance at each of the launch events to chat with fans of the industry-stomping game, as well as sign copies of Cataclysm and partake in a bit of jolly good fun!
CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment Mike Morhaime had this to say about the epic launch of Cataclysm:
“After two years of development, we’re excited to now be just two weeks away from releasing our best World of Warcraft expansion yet. Cataclysm will add a huge amount of new content to the game and change the face of Azeroth forever, and we can’t wait to celebrate this launch with players around the world.”
If you happen to get to any of the launch events (details of which you can find over here), you’ll be able to purchase either the standard or collector’s edition of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, the latter of which contains the following special items:
- An exclusive World of Warcraft: Cataclysm behind-the-scenes DVD including over an hour of developer interviews and commentaries
- The World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Collector’s Edition soundtrack CD
- The Art of Cataclysm, a 176-page hardback book featuring never-before-seen artwork from the development process
- Starter pack and exclusive cards for the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game
- Exclusive in-game pet, Lil’ Deathwing
- A special-edition World of Warcraft: Cataclysm mouse pad
