A handful of better quality (i.e. not scanned, not blurry) screenshots from the newly announced Pokemon Black and Pokemon White have appeared, with a few more tiny details to fill in some blanks.
One of the settings in Pokemon Black and White is a new cityscape (seen in the screenshots), as your trainer travels on elevated paths between buildings.
A new all-in-one Pokemon shop is also hinted at in the latest issue of Japanese game magazine Famitsu, that combines all of the functionality of a PokeMart, a Pokemon Center and a Global Terminal into one destination, which will definitely cut down on travel time.
Pokemon battles, from the looks of things, will be a little more exciting and dynamic, with camera movements and viewpoint switching depending on actions carried out during an encounter, rather than one static viewpoint being displayed the entire time (characters and Pokemon even seem to cast dynamic shadows on the ground).
A Pokemon Company representative told Famitsu:
“As you can tell from the screenshots, Pokemon Black/White’s adventure takes place in an area different in nature from before.
“The new story that unfolds in this place, along with the never-seen-before Pokemon you’ll encounter, will allow both old fans and people who haven’t played the other games to enjoy the experience without preconceptions.”
Pokemon Black and Pokemon White are expected to release in Japan in the Fall of this year.
