[Modern Warfare 2 Update No. 1]
While you’re waiting for the PS3 patch to download, why not read El33tonline’s write-up (including some great photos) of Modern Warfare 2’s launch event in South Africa that took place yesterday to celebrate the release of the game.

[Modern Warfare 2 Update No. 2]
After downloading patch 1.02 for the PS3 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, there is a high probability that you won’t be able to access any online matches.
After personally downloading the patch, and trying to play an online multiplayer match, I was met with the following message:
- Fetching Playlist:
- Updating Ranks and Unlocks:
- Connecting to Matchmaking Server Complete
After the message is displayed, there is no further activity, and no further connections made in order to progress into a match.
Infinity Ward is no doubt working on a fix right now, but it is at least a little disheartening to not be able to play the PS3 version of Modern Warfare 2 online right now.
[End of Update No. 2]
After eager gamers around the world got their hands on what is easily the overall most anticipated game of the year, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 gamers playing through Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 have been experiencing some issues.
The problems include the inability, in some cases, to unlock Achievements (on the Xbox 360) and Trophies (on the PS3), while more severe PS3 issues have cropped up, such as online multiplayer difficulties and the inability to invite friends to matches.
Specific to the Xbox 360 version, players are reportedly unable to join random online games due to problems with the matchmaking features.
Hearing the complaints loud and clear, Infinity Ward Creative Strategist Robert Bowling recently posted on his Twitter account to announce that a patch for the PS3 version of the game was on the way:
“Thanks for the feedback from PS3 players we already have a patch in the wings for release. Trophy update asap. Party invite update by Friday.”
Lo and behold, and true to Bowling’s word, a new 15MB patch has just been released for Modern Warfare 2 on PS3, which will prompt players to download version 1.02 (after downloading version 1.01) of the game.
This patch will fix gamers’ issues with the Trophies not unlocking, while a new patch, dealing specifically with the online functionality, is still expected to release “by Friday.”
There’s no official word on when an Xbox 360 patch will become available, however.
