With the news last week that Batman: Arkham Asylum was selling like crazy around the world, amounting to over two million units in the two weeks it had been on sale at that point, it’s now been revealed that the title, available on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, has shipped a whopping 2.5 million units.
While that number only accounts for units shipped to retailers, and not sold through to customers, it’s still quite an achievement so close to the game’s release date (August 25th to the 28th).
Arkham Asylum has so far been hailed as ‘the greatest comic book hero-based game ever,’ although some might say it’s simply a great game in its own right, no matter how you slice it. President of Warner Interactive (co-publishers of the game) Martin Tremblay said of the title:
“The tremendous critical and commercial success of Batman: Arkham Asylum sets a new benchmark for superhero games. Rocksteady Studios created an excellent game and the sales numbers demonstrate how a powerful franchise fused with high-quality production resonates with consumers.”
