PokeMon Heart Gold Soul Silver PokeWalker 1For the upcoming Pokemon games, Heart Gold and Soul Silver, not only will Nintendo bring a classic Pokemon game up to date on the DS, they’re also bringing a new device, the PokeWalker, to the table that will allow you to train up your Pokemon while you walk.

Shaped as a Pokemon Pokeball, and bundled with copies of the game, the PokeWalker is a special pedometer that allows you to transfer one Pokemon from either of the remakes, via infrared, to the device, which shows up on the screen.

If you hold the PokeWalker as you walk, the number of steps you take will be converted into experience points which will then be assigned to your Pokemon of choice.

Additionally, the chosen Pokemon’s affection for you will grow, while your footsteps will also be converted into ‘watts,’ which will help Pokemon trainers catch wild Pokemon and search for tools, which will then be sent to the game.
