El33tonline's Wii Buyer's Guide for Holiday 2011

A Very Special Buyer's Guide for Holiday 2011

I’m going to limit this list to just six games because the Wii just doesn’t get that many top-notch titles these days. For the budget conscious I recommend the Wii’s Select Range – a set of great games for R250 each.

For those looking for something new, here are my recommendations:

El33tonline’s Top Six Wii Game Recommendations:

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Large IconThis is one of the best games of the year, and offers some of the best value for money in gaming, so it’s a very obvious recommendation. Journey with Link as he attempts to help Zelda and so save the world. It’s epic, it’s beautiful, it’s fun, it’s brilliant. Think 40 hours of new, interesting things to do – it’s the perfect companion to a few days off.

Kirby’s Adventure Wii

Kirby Wii Large IconA drop-in, drop-out, four-player Kirby game, that sums it up! If you’re looking for an accessible platformer to play with family or friends and you’ve already played out Super Mario Bros Wii then this is the game for you. Don’t mistake Kirby’s cute fluffy pinkness for a character designed for kids. Yes, he’s very kid-friendly, but he’s also the star of some really fun games!

Go Vacation

Go Vacation Large IconGo Vacation is a game that sort of fits between Wii Sports Resort and games like Carnival Games. It has about 40-odd mini-games, but they’re quite full-featured mini-games and mostly fun. But the main attraction here are the actual resorts which up to four of you can roam around in, taking part in whatever takes your fancy. Go Vacation also supports the Balance Board for skiing and skating.

Just Dance 3

Just Dance 3 Large IconThere’s not much to say here – it’s the third in the smash hit dancing series. If you only own a Wii this is the dancing game to get.

Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure

Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure Large IconThink of a fantasy adventure movie, now imagine playing it as a character, then taking your character over to a friend’s place and playing there on a different console! The game is clearly aimed at kids, but like Pokemon it can be enjoyed by all ages.

Kirby’s Epic Yarn

Kirby's Epic Yarn Large IconThis one came out earlier this year, but it remains one of my favourite titles of the year. Kirby’s Epic Yarn remains as fresh at the end of the 20 hours it took to 100% as it was in the beginning. You can also play two players – great for a family duo.
