El33tonline's Xbox 360 Buyer's Guide for Holiday 2011Written by Bryan on Tuesday 06 Dec 2011Let’s face it, December is that time of the year where all anyone ever talks about is Christmas Day. As the years have gone by and as the shops have slowly dominated the festive season, so even the holiday period has shifted name and is now more largely known by its colloquial phrase ‘Xmas.’ My personal feelings on the matter aside, it seems a little interesting that December is, then, the month of Xmas, and I trust most of you can’t think of a better way to celebrate the month of Xmas than with a little loving time with your Xbox! After all, we can all agree it’s not called ‘PSMas’ or ‘WiiMas,’ so the only article that really matters this happy season is the one about the ‘Top Ten Games for Xbox 360 of 2011.’ I must add that it’s never going to be possible to please everyone and even with a list as short as a ‘Top Ten’ there will be games that are left out - in the interests of being objective and fair, I’ve tried to include any really noteworthy titles from the mainstream genres so that there should hopefully be something in this list for everyone. If you object to something being left out please shout in the comments. El33tonline’s Top Ten Xbox 360 Game Recommendations: Battlefield 3

Solo, co-op, two player, four player, split-screen, system link, online multiplayer. Gears of War 3 has it all and brings an epic conclusion to the harrowing tale of hope, survival and brotherhood to one of the strongest Microsoft Game Studios franchises to date. Not to be missed.
Arguably one of the top Game Of The Year contenders, Portal 2 survived the immediate fan backlash to become a popular and overwhelmingly fun (albeit mischievous) puzzle shooter that has taken over from its predecessor to raise the bar to new heights. How could we ever have lived without Co-Op?
Are you into outer space? Do people call your home a black hole? Does the word ‘vacuum’ leave you breathless? If you enjoy survival horror and want to soil your pants with moon rocks then Dead Space 2 is an absolute must-have title of 2011.
Although not one of the top ten this is most certainly a game to be played if you’re a zombie fan and enjoy co-op. Of all the zombie games to be played this one focuses more on the gritty struggle of survival than on an arsenal of firearms. Borderlands meets zombie survival in a tropical island resort - what could be better?
Winner of 2010 Game Of The Year at a whole bunch of places, you’d be hard-pressed to convince anyone why you’ve not played it if it’s considered by many to be the best game released in 2010.
Like Mass Effect 2, Winner of 2010 Game Of The Year at a whole bunch of places, this is essentially Grand Theft Auto in the Wild West. Offering a plethora of multiplayer options and a really groovy zombie expansion pack, both flavours are fully-standalone games and will unlock the entire core online multiplayer experience for less than R200 - a price that won’t break the bank!
Although getting on in years the gameplay for this RPG-shooter classic is timeless. Featuring up to 4 player drop-in / drop-out co-op (including 2 player split-screen) and exa-tera-ba-ja-zillions of guns and a bunch of expansions you’ll be enjoying this game for weeks, months, and maybe even years to come. It’s at a really bargain price nowadays so if you’ve never played it, pick it up now!
The ground-breaking sequel to the zombie survival co-op classic, this is an absolute must-have for any action fans. The sole reason three of my friends bought their Xbox 360 consoles.
