A Very Special Buyer's Guide for Holiday 2011

Comrades, it’s been a little over a year since the PlayStation Move landed on our beloved shores. The honeymoon period is over and Sony has only just begun to show us how we will fight on the beaches, the landing grounds, the fields and the streets. But I am adamant that Sony will never give up and never surrender - and maybe now that the PlayStation Vita is soon to ship out - we will hopefully see more attention given to the plight of motion gaming.

For this buyers guide we will be looking at games that invoke the right to Move. We will be awarding and praising those game developers who sought to revolutionize the motion controlled gaming landscape, taking full advantage of the pin-point accuracy and responsiveness of Sony’s motion controller. Let’s take a look at the best in categories for PlayStation Move games.

El33tonline’s Top Seven PlayStation Move Game Recommendations:

Killzone 3

Killzone 3 Large Icon Nothing compares to Killzone 3 when it comes to a close up, first person action-packed experience. While this game is Move-enabled and can be played without any motion controllers, it’s fair to say that Move support was not a last minute thought – this is proved by meaningful use of gestures and an uncanny accuracy.

Throw in the Sharp Shooter gun accessory and your Move and Navigation controllers are transformed into a lethal weapon of mass destruction.

Heavy Rain (Move edition)

Heavy Rain Move Edition Large Icon Practically redefining the interactive movie genre, Heavy Rain puts you right in the middle of the action. Quantic Dreams’ comprehensive control system makes exceptional use of quicktime events which will have you glued to the screen as you follow the various onscreen prompts, from the most mundane tasks like brushing your teeth to the more intense in-the-moment combat.

The overarching storyline and frightening realism together with the Move support helps sell the idea that you are part of this thrilling tale.

Medieval Moves: Deadmund’s Quest

Medieval Moves: Deadmund's Quest Large Icon Medieval Moves is an all-new action adventure game starring the diminutive Deadmund, a knight-in-training who happens to have been turned into a skeleton. Using swords and shields, as well as bows and arrows, players must help Deadmund restore order to the land using the PlayStation Move controller to slash enemies, block attacks and shoot at incoming targets with one-to-one motion.

Lots of fun from the developer behind another excellent Move game, Sports Champions.

Tumble is a Jenga-type 3D spatial stacking game, Echochrome 2 allows you to manipulate light and shadow by using the PlayStation Move motion controller in a series of ingenious challenges, and Lemmings welcomes back everyone’s favourite green-haired friends as you guide them to safety in over 40 HD levels.

Just Dance 3

Just Dance 3 Large Icon Striking bold colours and fresh, fun menu system puts Just Dance 3 in the running to take over your lounge - move that furniture and clear the way for an epic dance floor. With over 40 tracks covering most genres and exciting new game modes like Flash Mob and Dance Mash-up, there is a reason this game has been dubbed lord of the dance.
