El33tonline's Game of the Year 2009Written by Lisa on Monday 14 Dec 2009As technology grows each year so does the gaming industry, and 2009 has been no exception. In fact 2009 has been a great year for the gaming industry around the world. It saw the release of several highly anticipated blockbuster titles, including Uncharted 2 and Modern Warfare 2, as well as the emergence of a number of original IPs, such as Borderlands and Brutal Legend. No matter what your preferred platform, you were spoilt for choice with high profile games being released on each console. In addition to several AAA titles, this list included downloadable games which continue to grow, both in their stature as fully fledged videogames and in their ability to impress. Downloadable content was also key in the industry’s plan this year to keep gamers sated and coming back for more. Overall it was a great year to be a gamer, one which has left every gamer looking forward to 2010, which will no doubt offer new entries into well-loved series as well as fresh titles seeking to draw new fans. The El33tonline team sat down and drew up this list of what we believe to be the very best games of 2009. We salute the developers and publishers from around the globe who helped to create these masterpieces, and hope that they will continue to create great games, so that we may in turn continue to enjoy playing them. |
