The 4Gamers 2.1 Speaker System is designed to allow Wii gamers to enjoy their Wii gaming experience in full stereo sound.
The speaker system comes with Subwoofer speaker, two satellite speakers, console/Subwoofer stand, remote control as well as an audio extension cable and two AC Power Cables (one for the UK and one for Europe) and an instruction manual of course!
Now you may be thinking why do I need this speaker system, well because this is a speaker system with a difference. Firstly the remote control looks exactly like the Wii Remote control, and secondly the speakers are modeled after the Nunchuk controller, and the sound is great too!

To get started, slide your Wii into the grey console stand, next to the Subwoofer. This is a neat way to store your console and it looks very presentable. The stand has rubber feet and even an air vent to allow your console to cool down. The Subwoofer imitates the look of the Wii, apart from being white, it also has buttons in the same places as the Wii does. The front of the Subwoofer has volume up/down buttons, a red LED power indicator, as well as a power standby button and blue light indicator bar.
When the speaker system is on the blue light indicator on the right hand side of the subwoofer will glow blue – mimicking the way the Wii glows blue when it receives a message. This does look cool but we would have preferred the option to switch the blue light off because it can become distracting if you are playing games at night.
Setting up the speaker system is simple but a longer power cord would have been welcomed. The cable length for the Nunchuk speakers is ample though.
The attention to detail in getting the remote control to look like the Wii Remote is astounding. You will literally not be able to tell the two apart if they are lying next to each other on your coffee table. The remote control is exactly the same size, shape and colour as the Wii Remote…but the resemblance does not end there! The remote control has buttons in exactly the same places as the Wii Remote’s buttons.
There is a power button in the top left which turns the speaker system on or off and a Mute button that resembles the ‘A’ button. The D-Pad is also there, offering controls to increase and decrease both the Bass of the Subwoofer speaker and the Treble of the system. The control also has three buttons just below the Mute button: 3D, Reset and Loud.
Select the 3D audio mode for a surround sound effect and Loud to select the loudness mode, which sets the bass and treble to a higher level, while pushing Reset will restore the default volume and audio settings of the system. You can turn the volume up or down by using the two buttons where the ‘1’ and ‘2’ buttons would usually be on the Wii Remote.
The remote control even has the same markings where the speaker is on the Wii Remote as well as where the four lights indicate which controller you are. To get started fit the two batteries included with the system by removing the battery compartment cover on the back of the remote control, the same as you would do for the Wii Remote.
The speakers resemble the Nunchuk controller, right down to the analogue sticks on the top of the speakers. They look really stylish and do a great job of producing clear audio. The speakers are magnetically shielded and when combined with the Subwoofer provide 30 Watts (RMS) output power. The speakers are suitable to fit into a lounge or entertainment room, without dominating but adding a touch of class. Our only negative comment is that we would have preferred a heavier base to make them more stable.
So now you know the system looks great, but how does the sound fair? We found that it produced a solid audio performance, delivering both deep bass and clear treble. There is plenty of power in this system, enough to rattle your windows with quality distortion-free audio.
The system gets a big thumbs up from us, the finish is superb and the sound will meet your console gaming needs. Apart from having great sound, the system looks great and compliments your Wii too. It also bears the official stamp of approval from Nintendo.
The 4Gamers 2.1 Speaker System for Wii normally retails at R1699, but the product is currently on special for just R899. There is limited stock available so I would recommend heading down to your local Look & Listen or logging on to Shop and Ship to get yourself one today. If you order it online from Shop and Ship you can expect it to ship within 2 – 3 days.
Thanks to the KNR Flat Rock team for the awesome review sample.
