The Rechargeable Pack fits directly into the Balance Board’s battery compartment, replacing the four batteries with just one pack. This means that not only will you never have to buy new batteries for your board again, but you will only have one pack for the board rather than four batteries. It matches the grey colour of the underside of the Balance Board so you will not even notice that you have replaced the standard cover. To charge the pack simply plug the USB cable, which is included with the pack, into the USB slot on the back of your Wii and you are set for hours of Wii gaming fun! You can charge the pack either while the Wii is on or in standby mode and you can also charge it using any device that has a powered USB port. The USB cable is nice and long, 3 metres (10 feet) to be exact, so you can quite easily charge the pack while you are actually using the board – it doesn’t get much easier than this! This USB cable is also grey so it matches the pack nicely.
Another handy feature is that you can check the charge level on the pack. While playing Wii Fit or any other game that uses the Balance Board, simply click ‘Home’ on the Wii Remote and check the battery level indicator. There will be two controllers connected, the Wii Remote will show up as the first charge indicator and the Balance Board as the other. Owning Wii Fit is reason enough to invest in a good quality rechargeable battery pack, but if you add the other games that are compatible with the Balance Board to the mix, it becomes a necessity. Currently there are quite a few games available on the South African gaming market that make use of the Wii Balance Board including Wii Fit, Family Ski and Shaun White Snowboarding. There are also quite a few other games in the wings that you will be able to use your Balance Board with such as Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party, Family Ski and Snowboard and you can rest assured that many more developers are looking into ways to incorporate this great new gameplay into new games soon. The Rechargeable Battery Pack from dreamGEAR is available now for an estimated retail price of R290 (including VAT). You can pick the dreamGEAR range up at various online and brick ‘n mortar stores including Budget Tech, Incredible Connection, Look ‘n Listen, Pick ‘n Pay, Dion Wired, Kalahari, E-Dream, Digital Planet and CNA. If you already own the Wii Fit Balance Board, you will know that it can become quite pricey to replace the four batteries that the board needs. The Rechargeable Battery Pack from dreamGEAR is the perfect solution to these high battery costs.
To make things even easier for you, the pack has two charging lights to show you if the pack is charging or fully charged. If you see a red light on the pack it is charging while a blue light indicates that the pack is fully charged. The charging status colours are clearly labelled on the pack and it only took about half an hour for my battery pack to become fully charged the first time I charged it.
