The iMP 13 in 1 Travel Kit is a great solution for DS Lite owners who are in dire need of a carry case that can hold, not only your DS Lite, but other bits and pieces in the accessory range. The case itself is a stylish, understated black ‘plastic leather’ zip case, that fits the DS Lite very snugly indeed, with no chance of sliding around once it’s zipped up. The case feels so solid, in fact, that it seems as though you would be able to drop it without damaging the valuable console within (El33tonline does not recommend dropping your DS under any circumstances).
The Travel Kit also comes standard with a surprisingly good set of headphones that, while sounding a little tinny, are a much better sound solution than the DS speakers themselves, ably bringing out bass tones that are all but lost if playing sans headphones. The last extra on the list is a very functional car charger, allowing you to charge your DS Lite on the go in the car, from a 12V charge source. The main problem with the Travel Kit is that not everything can fit in the provided case, as it’s simply not thick enough for all of the extras. The need to store everything in the case can become moot with a bit of logic, as the car charger will probably stay in the car, and the headphones will probably be around your ears (or your neck) while on the go. The rest of the items, however, still prove to be slightly too much for the case because, while it can safely zip up with four game cases, your DS and the other bits, it does seem as though the case is taking a bit of strain with the added girth. If you intend on just taking two or three games along with you on your journey, then this point, too, becomes moot, but it would have been nice if the case was a smidge wider or if an extra side pocket had been provided. The iMP 13 in 1 Travel Kit for the DS Lite is a solid and tasteful carry case solution, available in both black and pink. At R219 with all of the extras included, it’s also terrific value for money. Available at ToyZone, Incredible Connection, Take2 and Kalahari, the iMP 13 in 1 Travel Kit comes highly recommended.
