What’s it going to take?! What supernatural act in the world of gaming will be able to shift Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 from its position of power at the top of Xbox LIVE’s Activity ranking, and allow another game – any game – to claim the No. 1 spot on the list?
As you may have guessed, Modern Warfare 2 was still the most played game on Xbox LIVE over the last week, as the combined efforts of Halo 3: ODST, the Halo: Reach multiplayer beta and Halo 3 could not tilt the balance of power, and return the world to the way it was before ‘The Dark Presence’ appeared… on November 10th 2009.
As for best selling Xbox LIVE Arcade games, Zombie Apocalypse tops that particular chart, while the combined sales of Game Room games sits at No. 2 on the list, and Toy Soldiers appears at No. 3.
The list of top selling Xbox Indie Games is ruled by Baby Maker Extreme at No. 1, with Avatar Onslaught and I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES!!!1 at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively.
This week, we’ve also got access to a list of the most played Games For Windows (GFW) games, as Grand Theft Auto IV, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II and Colin McRae : Dirt 2 appear at the top of that ranking.
The full global list of top played Xbox Live games, top selling XBLA games and Xbox Indie Games follows below, all based on unique users and full versions purchased (now including Games for Windows games):
Bungie have finally done it; not content to hold the top spot on the Xbox LIVE Activity chart this past week with Halo 3, and consistently taking the same spot on the original Xbox activity chart with Halo 2, they’ve gone and occupied the second spot as well, with Halo 3: ODST sitting contentedly at No. 2 on the list.
Call of Duty 4, Call of Duty: World at War and Gears of War 2 trail behind the two leaders.
The newly released Zombie Apocalypse becomes the best selling Xbox LIVE Arcade game for the week, followed by Pinball FX and the previous chart dominator, Trials HD.
I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES!!!1, meanwhile, continues its reign at the top of the Xbox LIVE Indie Games sales chart, having by now taken up almost permanent residence in the position, as Avatar Drop and Fishing Girl place at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively.

It’s another demo-laden PlayStation Store update this week, with demos for Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, The Punisher: No Mercy and a Lost Planet 2 co-op demo showing up in both regions, while US gamers get additional demos for Zombie Apocalypse (as well as the full version of the game) and Wolfenstein.
The usual assortment of videos and downloadable content (including the new Batman: Arkham Asylum – Prey in the Darkness DLC) make an appearance this week as well.
Flick through the full list of content available now on both the European and US PlayStation Stores this week to see if anything catches your eye:
Three new Xbox LIVE Arcade games have hit the service; all of which look interesting enough to at least look at the trial; all of which are going for the low, low price of 800 MS Points each.
First up, we have ION Assault, “an action-packed arcade-style space adventure with an unprecedented particle physics engine.” And don’t we all just love an unprecedented physic engine! It continues: “Fight alone or cooperatively through four different modes and more than 20 exciting levels.”

A new downloadable title will be heading to Xbox LIVE Arcade and the PlayStation Network this Summer, with the deliciously inviting title of Zombie Apocalypse, a 3D isometric twin-stick shooter with all the graphical bells and whistles you’ve come to expect from disc-based games.
In Zombie Apocalypse, you’ll play one of four characters who are armed to the brim with all manner of weaponry (assault rifles, chainsaws, flame throwers, teddy bears filled with C4 explosives), tasked with the job of simply surviving a recent outbreak of zombies, while trying to save the last remaining human survivors.
You’ll need to work together in order to survive the mayhem, which sees players embark on fifty-five days of carnage across seven environments. Have a look at the remaining screenshots below, and also watch two gameplay videos from the game to see Zombie Apocalypse in motion:
