In these difficult times, we need to look to our heroes for inspiration to get us through the darkness. We need our heroes to save us and guide us towards the light.
In short, we need mutants. Lots of mutants. Mutants of every shape, size, colour and ability. We need… the X-Men!
While you may not be a mutant (that we know of…), you can take up the mantle of a specially imbued superhero in X-Men: Destiny from Activision and Silicon Knights, and with El33tonline and Megarom’s recent competition, we gave you the chance to win a copy of the game on Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3.
So who amongst you is the hero that will explore the lengths and breadths of their humanity in X-Men: Destiny?
Hey everybody, here’s one last reminder to enter El33tonline and Megarom’s competitions to win Just Dance 3, X-Men: Destiny and Spider-Man: Edge of Time!
These competitions close at the end of today, so be sure to get your entries in at the El33tonline’s competition page!
Good luck, and thanks again to Megarom and Ubisoft South Africa for providing these great games and hampers!
What would you do if you woke up one day and discovered you suddenly had extraordinary powers? The newest addition to the X-Men series of genetically mutated superhero games raises precisely that question to players in Activision’s latest title, X-Men: Destiny.

With the release of X-Men: Destiny recently, the world received an action adventure game set in the storied universe of the genetically evolved superheroes, the X-Men, but instead of limiting you to a choice of one of these tights-wearing, superpower-wielding adventurers, this game allows you to choose from a cast of three new characters.
As one of these characters, you’ll be able to collect the powers of a number of famous X-Men, continuing to add to your range of awesome abilities, while learning their respective backstories as they become some of the most potent fighters the world has ever seen!
To give you a chance of introducing yourself to the colourful and far-reaching world of X-Men: Destiny, Megarom and El33tonline are giving away four copies of the game across PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 (two per console)!
If you’d like to stand in line to win one of the games, head on over to El33tonline’s X-Men: Destiny Competition page, and check out our preview of the game (ahead of the full review soon) for more information.
We’re wrapping up another week here on El33tonline after an intensely insane and amazing rAge 2011 in Johannesburg last weekend.
While we’re a little relieved that we aren’t working through the rigmarole of setting up and running our precious Stand 28 this weekend, it’s with a little sadness that we realise the show is over and we have to wait until next year before seeing all of our online friends again in person.
In short, ‘we have a sad.’
To take our minds off of this realisation, we’re going to be playing a selection of games that we hope to be every bit as good as they promise - here’s what a few of us here at El33tonline are up to this weekend:
X-Men: Destiny game designer Zac Alcampo has a vision.
As the game’s combat and RPG systems designer, he wants to instil his game with the sensibilities of a classic side-scrolling brawler, reminiscent of games like Double Dragon, Final Fight, and even Streets of Rage.
But he wants more than that.
Alcampo also wants to inject layers of RPG depth into this more simplistic, ‘light and heavy attack’ style of combat, and if my time with the game and its ‘X-Gene’ ability combinations is any indication, he (and developer Silicon Knights) might just get what he wants.

Activision has released details on who will voice characters in their upcoming games, Spider-Man: Edge of Time and X-Men Destiny. This news comes from the San Diego Comic-Con, where both games are playable.
Whoa, Activision is making it three out of three with a new release date for X-Men Destiny just announced at the San Diego Comic-Con.
Activision has just released three new screenshots for their upcoming action game X-Men Destiny. Although we still don’t know too many details about the game, the images show that we can look forward to plenty of action and combat when the title releases later this year.
A new Marvel superhero game has been revealed to be in the works at Silicon Knights (Too Human, Eternal Darkness) in partnership with Activision, and it’s name is:
(Just in case there’s any confusion, the name of the game is X-Men: Destiny…)
That’s about the most concrete thing that’s been revealed about this mystery game, other than a teaser trailer (which you can find below) and some vague press copy that alludes to a game that “gives players ultimate control of their destiny.”
