Wow, this is amazing! The original bullet-time featuring, film-noir style storyline action adventure game, Max Payne, is now available on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace as an Xbox Original!
“Max Payne is a man with nothing to lose. A fugitive, undercover cop framed for murder, he is now hunted by cops—and the mob. With his back against the wall, Max is fighting a battle he cannot hope to win.”
Not only that, but the sequel, Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, has also been made available on the service!
“Between a cop, Max Payne, and a femme fatale murder suspect, Mona Sax. Dark, tragic, and intense, the story is a thrill ride of shocking twists and revelations.”
Both of these games were instant classics when they were released, and while the graphics may not stand up to the best on offer now-a-days, the gameplay is as smooth and satisfying as ever!
Max Payne and Max Payne 2 are both available now for 1200 MS Points apiece on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace.
Did you miss the Rare game, Grabbed by the Ghoulies, the first time around, when it was released on the original Xbox? Well, fret not, because now you have the chance to get it on your Xbox 360 as an Xbox Original!
Grabbed by the Ghoulies is a beat-em-up adventure game, set in a haunted mansion full of weird and wonderful ghoulies. You play as Cooper, a kid who’s on a mission to find and rescue his girlfriend, who has been captured and hidden somewhere in the mansion.
With some great humour injected into the proceedings, as well as family-friendly presentation, Grabbed by the Ghoulies is good for some wholesome, non ultra-violent gaming.
If it follows the mould of previous Xbox Originals, Grabbed by the Ghoulies will be available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace for 1200 MS Points. Check out some more screenshots for the game below, or head over to Microsoft’s Xbox Originals page to see what else is available.
On December 15th, new additions to the Xbox 360’s line-up of Xbox Originals will arrive in the form of Sega Soccer Slam and a game called Raze’s Hell (…).
The Xbox Originals brand, where highly acclaimed original Xbox games go to live on in digital download infamy, has been quietly growing since its inception and now boasts 23 titles to which you are now able to gain access through Xbox LIVE on the Xbox 360. That number is set to go up with the aforementioned new games.
Sega Soccer Slam, originally released in 2002 is described thus: “Have you ever taken on a deranged kilt-wearing Scotsman in a wild, no-holds-barred soccer match? Each character in this anything-but-ordinary soccer game wields special powers and moves that if executed properly earn the big score. In Quest Mode, you can unlock secret stadiums and uncover hidden items to improve your already stellar performance.” Sounds pretty exciting. What about Raze’s Hell?:
The classic, massive addition to the Grand Theft Auto series of games, GTA: San Andreas, has been confirmed as coming to Xbox Originals. What does that mean? It means that, when available, you’ll be able to download San Andreas via Xbox LIVE and enjoy it all over again, or enjoy it for the first time. For those that haven’t played and/or heard of San Andreas, here’s a blurb:
“Five years ago, Carl Johnson escaped from the pressures of life in Los Santos, San Andreas, a city tearing itself apart with gang trouble, drugs, and corruption. Now he’s back in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
But Carl’s family is in dire straits and his friends are headed for disaster. To make matters worse, he’s just been framed for homicide. Join Carl on his journey across the state of San Andreas as he fights to save his family and take back control of the streets.”
Add to that the huge open-world, free-roaming elements, as well as the extensive soundtrack, and you’ve got it. GTA: San Andreas will be up on Live as an Xbox Original on October 20th for a minimal cost of 1200 Microsoft Points. Visit over here for more.
On Xbox Live, there’s a ton of new content to sink your teeth, and Microsoft Points, into. Not only are there two new ‘Xbox Originals’ titles available, but two new XBLA games as well.
Destroy All Humans is the first ‘Xbox Originals’ game available for download, for the paltry sum of 1200 MS Points. Take on the role of Crypto, an alien warrior sent by his Furon masters to clear a path for their invasion force. To complete your mission, you’ll be shooting, taking control of and, you guessed it, destroying humans. Awesome when it first released, if you don’t have this game, you should at least check it out.
Intellivision Lives (only available in North America right now), also for 1200 MS Points, is the next of the ‘Xbox Originals’ games, which allows you to relive the glory days of gaming - the 80’s! Intellivision Lives includes over 60 classic Intellivision games in one package, with titles such as Armor Battle, Astrosmash, Night Stalker, Buzz Bombers and Frog Bog, as well as including original Intellivision commercials and archive footage! Sounds retro-awesome!
The XBLA games up for download are Feeding Frenzy 2 and Domino Master, both going for 800 MS Points. While Feeding Frenzy may appeal to those wanting to “dodge predators and eat your way up the food chain to save the sea”, either solo or with a friend, Domino Master is basically what it says on the tin - line up and match blocks of different values, either solo or with friends, while working your way up the leaderboards. Also available for board game enthusiasts? Ticket To Ride -1910 downloadable content, for 400 MS Points! What an update!
Guilty Gear X2 #Reload and The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning will be added to Xbox Originals this month.
Developed by Arc System Works, Sega’s Guilty Gear X2 #Reload was released on the Xbox 360 in 2004 and brought the series online for the first time. The game features various game modes including Medal of Millionaire, Versus, Story, Mission and Training. Players can choose from 20 regular characters as you battle your enemies to an intense metal and rock soundtrack.
Vivendi’s The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning was released on the Xbox in 2006. The first game in the Legend of Spyro trilogy, it marked the reboot to the Spyro video game series by Krome Studios and explored the origins of the purple dragon.
Guilty Gear X2 #Reload and The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning will be available for download from Xbox Live on the 16th of June for 1 200 Microsoft Points each.
Dreamfall: The Longest Journey is the latest Xbox Original to land on Xbox Live Marketplace. It will cost you 1 200 Microsoft Points and weighs in at 2.23GB.
Developed by Funcom, Dreamfall: The Longest Journey was originally released for the Xbox and PC in 2006.
The future holds secrets only the past can reveal
The sequel to The Longest Journey, Dreamfall is an action-adventure game that sees players stepping into a “fully interactive world where beautiful music, stunning graphics, fascinating characters, and unparalleled game play variety promises to bring the adventure genre into a new era.” It won various E3 awards as the best game in its genre.
The game follows Zoë Castillo as she sets about unraveling a mystery that spans parallel worlds in the year 2219. It spans three worlds (a futuristic earth, a magical fantasy realm and the mysteries of Winter), multiple chapters and different detailed locations. The game features three characters (Zoë Castillo, April Ryan and Kian) with unique abilities so players will be able to experience the story from three different perspectives, delivering diverse game play variations.
