The sequel to last year’s critically acclaimed platformer Rayman Origins is in development, Ubisoft has confirmed. This announcement came shortly after a trailer was leaked onto the internet that touted the game’s new features and also showcased Wii U exclusive elements such as tablet-specific controls.
We recently heard confirmation that Nintendo will indeed be showing a brand new Super Mario Bros. game at this year’s E3 event in June, running on the company’s next generation Wii U hardware, but that’s not all.
Confirmation has also arrived for an E3 showing of Pikmin 3, a game we’ve known about for quite some time.
Nintendo said in a statement:
It’s been almost two years since a Super Mario game appeared on a Nintendo home console so it comes as no surprise that another entry in this iconic series is in the works for Wii U.
Assassin’s Creed III is the first numbered entry in the series since 2009 and there’s a very good reason for this. The game has been in production ever since Assassin’s Creed II was released two and a half years ago and is being developed by some of Ubisoft’s most experienced and talented staff - many of whom were instrumental in ACII’s critical success. It’s therefore logical to assume that ACIII will be one of the most impressive Assassin’s Creed games in years and could very well be a contender for Game of the Year.
Rumours and leaks are nothing new in the videogame industry and history shows us that a large percentage of claims relating to unannounced games or release dates end up being true. The latest unconfirmed report comes from WiiUDaily and cites a US and Japanese launch date for the Wii U.
2010 started off with a bang for us gamers thanks to the January release of the original Darksiders. Many people praised the game’s combat and exploration mechanics and compared it favourably to The Legend of Zelda series. Fast forward to the present day and Darksiders II is only three months away from release. Exciting times!
The first ever trailer for Assassin’s Creed III has just been released and sees new hero Connor take to the snow and ice-encrusted trees of the Mohawk Valley circa 1977 in colonial America before the start of a great war lead by George Washington himself.
Darting back and forth, and in the dead of night, Connor effortlessly slays a half dozen British soldiers with nothing more than a bladed weapon before he races through the woods, swinging from branch to branch on his way to the battlefield.
Is he too late, or just in time?

Did you think 2011 was jam-packed with fantastic videogames? Were you unable to keep up with the pace of releases due to time and budget constraints? Then we’ve got some bad news for you: The 2012 videogame release slate is going to be just as manic as 2011 with titles that promise to be just as spectacular as the best that last year could throw at us!

Announced for a Wii and Wii U release, Dragon Quest X - officially titled Dragon Quest X Mezameshi Itsutsu no Shuzoku Online - will feature a strong online component as players fight and explore together in an online world.
Before its unveiling at E3 2011, it was never expected that Nintendo’s next home console would play Blu-ray discs as part of its multimedia offering, but it was firmly believed that the console would at least feature the ability to play DVDs.
According to information surfacing from an investor Q&A session during E3 2011, the Wii U will most certainly not be able to play Blu-rays… or standard DVDs.
Even in this day and age of internet scoops, Nintendo managed to surprise us with a few announcements at the publisher’s E3 press conference this year.
At the top of the list was the Wii U, Nintendo’s next home console and the successor to the Wii. The tablet-like controller for the Wii U has a touchscreen, dual analogue circle pads, motion controls, speakers, a microphone and a camera. The controller screen can be used instead of or along with HDTV.
Nintendo formally revealed its next home console yesterday in the form of the Wii U, the direct successor to the company’s ultra popular Wii.
With the announcement, a flurry of information immediately flooded the internet, with news on the console’s technical specifications, which games and publishers we would see on the machine when it launches next year, and a raft of videos showcasing the unique features and power of the Wii U all arriving in unison.
While this information is all well and good… what is the Wii U?
It was back at E3 2008 when Nintendo confirmed that they were working on a Pikmin for the Wii.
In fact it was Shigeru Miyamoto who revealed the good news at Nintendo’s Developer Roundtable with the words, “We’re making Pikmin.”
