Nintendo is no stranger to sales success, with the Wii having sold over 90 million units and the 3DS growing with popularity by the day.
The video game giant’s most recent accolade is having the Wii Balance Board bestowed with the Guinness World Record for “best-selling personal weighing device”. To achieve this honour, the peripheral sold a whopping 32 million units between its launch in December 2007 and November 2010. This impressive total comprises 22.6 million bundled with Wii Fit and 9.4 million bundled with Wii Fit Plus.
Nintendo recently announced the existence of a brand new Wii console bundle that includes a black Wii (with Nunchuck and WiiMote) and a black Wii Balance Board, as well as copies of fitness software Wii Fit Plus and the sports mini-game collection, Wii Sports.
Konami has announced Marbles! Balance Challenge, its first game designed to be compatible with the Wii Balance Board.
Described as a “skills-based action title,” Marbles! Balance Challenge sees players helping an ant called Anthony save his colony through various physical tests. Using the Wii Remote, players will steer a ball through 200 different stages in search of the Golden Sunflower Seed. If you have a Wii Balance Board you can access 100 specially-created stages where players steer a ball by shifting their weight.
Skate It, the Wii and DS editions of the EA skating franchise, Skate, is coming soon to a Nintendo console near you.
Skate It allows players to use either the Wii remote or Nintendo DS stylus to perform tricks and control their skater through the world. The Wii remote is used to imitate real skating manoeuvres, with the option to use a Wii Balance Board in concert with the Wii remote, applying pressure all around the board to simulate a skateboard.
Skate It is coming to North America on November 19th, while Europe gets to play on November 20th, available on both the Wii and Nintendo DS. Set your sights on some screenshots below:

Namco Bandai Games has announced that We Ski has gone gold and will arrive in North American stores on the 13th of May. It will sport a $29.99 price tag.
Up to four players can hit the slopes with the Wii Balance Board or Wii Remote and Nunchuk in single or multiplayer skiing action. The Wii Balance Board comes bundled with Wii Fit, which will only be released across North America on the 19th of May. If Ski Slalom and Ski Jump in Wii Fit are anything to go by, this title looks set to include some addictive game play.
Wii Ski features a mountain resort with over a dozen runs ranging from bunny slopes to Black Diamonds. Players will also be able to enjoy races, slaloms, moguls, freestyle challenges, ski school and even night skiing. Players can use their own Mii, kitting him or her out in goggles, costumes and poles or create a customizable character.
“Namco Bandai has worked to create the most intuitive and responsive skiing game available, giving players a fully immersive experience,” said Todd Thorson, Director of Marketing and Public Relations for NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc. “We want players to feel the fun and intensity of real downhill skiing from the comfort of their living rooms.”
