SEGA Sammy recently reported results of their first fiscal quarter of 2010, posting a year-on-year decline in sales and a net loss for the three month period ended June 30th - net sales decreased 19 percent from the same period last year to $638.44 million, as net loss was posted at $108.66 million compared to $111.19 million last year.
Additionally, official sales figures were revealed for their Wii-exclusive first-person shooter, The Conduit, which released in the US only seven days before the end of the quarter, but ten days into the second quarter of fiscal 2010 in Europe.
It’s always something of a surprise when a time-honoured (or well-known at the very least) videogame franchise, usually able to deliver an overall solid and enjoyable experience, fails to elicit a favourable reaction with its latest edition, but this is the case with Virtua Tennis 2009.
Despite the provision of all the features you would expect in a tennis game, as well as a bevy of creative mini-games and multiplayer modes to mix up the offering, Virtua Tennis 2009 seems stuck in a transitory state, trying to provide both an arcade-like, slimmed down simulation of the game of tennis, while at the same time attempting to present a realistic take on the game, simultaneously providing neither, but rather a jumbled, non-celebratory sports game that simply goes through the motions.

SEGA have recently released a new batch of screenshots for their upcoming multiplatform tennis game, Virtua Tennis 2009.
Virtua Tennis 2009 includes the world’s top ranked tennis players, such as Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova and Venus Williams. New players for 2009, such as World No. 4 Andy Murray and French Open champion Ana Ivanovic, will also join the abovementioned tennis stars.
You’ll not only be able to take part in traditional singles, doubles and mixed doubles matches, but you’ll also have the opportunity to represent your country in the officially licensed in-game Davis Cup tournament campaign.
