This week on Xbox LIVE Arcade we have a title called Interpol: The Trail of Dr. Chaos for the sum of 800 MS Points. What is Interpol? Glad you asked.

Interpol: The Trail of Dr. Chaos is what genre-makers call a ‘hidden object game.’ Players are provided with a static screen and are tasked with finding clues to the solution of the game’s given conundrum, in this case, tracking down Dr. Chaos and bringing him to justice, all the while travelling around the world, from San Francisco to Tokyo.

There’s even a four-player co-operative mode to speed the search, while mini-games of some description are also promised. You can peek some screenshots from Interpol: The Trail of Dr. Chaos below:

Coming to Xbox LIVE Arcade today is a game called Dash of Destruction, which is the result of a Doritos promotion. The promotion called for the community to submit great game concepts, the best of which would be made into a game. It seems Dash of Destruction was the ultimate winner and has gone from concept to electronic entertainment as promised.

Dash of DestructionWe are assured that Dash of Destruction is a “fun and fast-paced racing game” and contains “great gameplay” that allows you to take control of a rampaging Tyrannosaurus Rex, chasing after a Doritos van, or you can take control of the Doritos van itself. A multiplayer component allows four players to run and race around the city.

This game is probably a must-download simply because you don’t even have to spend any of your precious MS Points - Dash of Destruction is free!

According to Major Nelson’s blog, there are three additions to the Xbox LIVE Arcade service on this fine day. Whether you’ve heard of them or not is another story.

Xbox Live Arcade LogoThe first game, MLB Stickball, available for 800 Microsoft Points, is ‘the classic game of stickball’, only featuring MLB pros, taking to the neighbourhood streets for a quick, friendly match. “Win games, hit home runs, shut down batters, trip car alarms and burst water towers to unlock pro players and flesh out your team,” they say. Each neighbourhood has its own rules, from the streets of Brooklyn to the beach in Los Angeles. Sounds interesting, although it’s currently only available in Canada and the US.

The next game, also available for 800 MS Points, is Shadow Assault/Tenchu. The entry doesn’t make it quite clear if this is the classic Tenchu game, now on XBLA, or some sort of spin-off, but playing the demo will soon reveal the truth. It comes packed with a multiplayer component as well, up to four players.

The last game in the list, yours for only 800 MS Space Bucks, is Beat ’n Groovy in which you “let the energy of the music flow through you.” Is this a Miziguchi game? While that’s doubtful, the demo will be able to tell you more than Major Nelson.

Sony has popped a heads-up on its PlayStation blog that we can expect a PS3 firmware update soon.

Version 2.35 will be “released shortly” and will be a “relatively minor update to improve stability of some PS3 titles.”

Nothing to get too excited about then but good to know.

Sony also clarified that the update is not related to Grand Theft Auto IV. In response to a comment speculating that it was aimed towards GTA IV, Al de Leon responded “I just want to clarify that this upcoming firmware update isn’t related to GTA IV.”

De Leon advised that a solution has been identified and PS3 owners who have issues with GTA IV should contact SCEA’s Consumer Services.
