The one positive aspect of PS Vita launching in the West two months after Japan is that it gives Sony an opportunity to iron out a few kinks and add some new firmware features.

There have been a couple of minor firmware updates since the Vita’s Japanese launch, but today’s update (version 1.60) is the most significant thus far.

PS3 The team at Sony Computer Entertainment has snuck out a brand new firmware update for the PlayStation 3 this morning, bringing everyone’s consoles up to version 4.00.

Media Go is the Sony equivalent of iTunes. It allows you to organise and browse your media library on PC, and also serves as a PC-based content management tool for PlayStation Portable as well as other Sony devices. You can use it to access the PSP side of the PlayStation Store, back up game saves and transfer any other content from your PSP to your PC’s hard drive.

Xbox 360 Console (Smaller) Thanks to information from Tom, we now know that the latest system update for Xbox 360 has gone live and is available to download.

The next time you turn on your Xbox 360 while connected online, you’ll be prompted to download the mandatory update. If you’re already signed into Xbox LIVE, however, you may be signed out and asked to download the update (which, depending on your connection, will only take “a few moments”).

If you’re a fan of intense action racing games, then you’ll be happy to hear that an update for MotorStorm Apocalypse is now available on the PlayStation Network.

According to Evolution Studios, the ‘After Party’ update is the “biggest update” to the game so far…and it’s free! It includes a new day-and-night track called The Rock as well as new Special Events Packs and weekly challenges.

Kaos Studios has quietly released a new update for the Xbox 360 version of Homefront which aims to improve game stability, and includes “various other fixes.”

With the release of this latest patch for Homefront, look out for the ‘Ability Pack’ downloadable content (DLC), which will open up to you after you’ve updated your game to the latest version.
