Here’s a trailer that will make players of the PlayStation 3 version of Unreal Tournament 3 happy that they own the game, as the features of the (free) Titan Pack are paraded for all to see.

The lead designer on Unreal Tournament 3, Steve Polge, has reminded everyone that the UT3 Titan Pack will become available today for owners of the PlayStation 3 version of the game, downloadable through the PlayStation Store for free. Polge further reminds us what’s included in the pack:

“The Titan Pack’s downloadable content includes the gametypes Greed and Betrayal, the namesake Titan mutator, 19 maps, the Link Station and X-Ray Field deployables, the Stinger Turret and Eradicator Cannon weapons, the Stealthbender vehicle, the Slow Field power-up, and characters Kana and Nova.”

Polge then goes on to recommend a few different game type variants, including the mixing and matching of game types to get an even more unique experience.

Owners of the PlayStation 3 version of Unreal Tournament 3 already have access to the first part of the promised downloadable content, which brought Trophies and splitscreen support, amongst others, to the game.

Epic have deemed it necessary to release a slimmed down version of their planned Unreal Tournament III PS3 patch, which includes features such as split-screen support and PS3 Trophies.

The full patch, you’ll remember, was delayed to a release date of March 19th, and would have contained a variety of game fixes and added features, as well as a considerable amount of extra maps and game types.

That patch has been cut in two, with the first part now available to download, while the extra downloadable content will be made available on the previously announced date of March 19th.

The 93MB patch, now obtainable for the PS3 version of Unreal Tournament 3, contains the following additions to the game:

Midway and Epic Games are making sure that all you Unreal Tournament fans want for nothing. The Titan Pack for UT3 is now available to download for Steam and PC with the PS3 version scheduled to follow on the 19th of March.

The Titan Pack includes new maps, units and gameplay modes and, even better news is that it is all free!

The download includes 11 new multiplayer maps for Deathmatch, CTF, Vehicle CTF and Warfare modes plus eight maps from the first UT3 bonus pack and Xbox 360 version of the game.

Epic’s Titan Pack for their multiplayer shooter, Unreal Tournament 3, aims to add a bunch of content to both the PS3 and PC versions of the game, including features already included in the Xbox 360 version.

Releasing on March 5th, the pack will notably add in split-screen and mod-browsing for PS3 owners, as well as an additional 16 maps.

Attempting to explain away the lack of an update for the Xbox 360 version of the game, Epic’s Steve Polge said that a lot of the content and features come as standard on that consoles’ version of Unreal Tournament 3, going on to say:

“And we couldn’t do the mod browser, there’s no structure for that on the 360. And the pack is larger than Microsoft’s patch limit.”

Midway and Epic Games have announced that the Xbox 360 version of Unreal Tournament 3 will be available across Europe on the 4th of July and North America on the 7th of July.

UT3 will include new features including split screen, five exclusive maps and two new characters as well as all previously released downloadable content.

It will also feature an exclusive multiplayer video preview of Gears of War 2. Narrated by design director Cliff Bleszinski and producer Rod Fergusson, the video will include never-before-seen footage of Gears of War 2 multiplayer modes and will feature new maps, modes, weapons and game play.

“We’re very excited to be shipping Unreal Tournament 3 for Xbox 360,” said Mark Rein, vice president of Epic Games, Inc. “This is a great title and, with two-player split screen support and some very cool new content, Xbox 360 players should be thrilled with this fantastic version of the game.”

UT3 is currently available for the PS3 and PC.

Unreal Tournament 3 will be released for the Xbox 360 this summer. This is the latest word from Midway and Epic Games, who also announced that the game has shipped over one million units worldwide for the PS3 and PC.

The Xbox 360 version will feature two new characters, five new expansive maps as well as split screen capability.
