At El33tonline, we’ve been enthralled by the Uncharted series of action adventure games from Naughty Dog since the very first sampling as we embarked on high adventures, dangerous treasure hunts and epic journeys across the world in search of fortune. Not fame, so much.
So we’re extremely pleased to hear that the Uncharted series has collectively sold over 17 million units around the world with entries to the series including Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune in 2007, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves two years later, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception in 2011 and, more recently, Uncharted: Golden Abyss for PS Vita.
To celebrate this achievement, Sony Computer Entertainment has announced a Game of the Year Edition for Uncharted 3!
EA’s latest action snowboarding game makes an effortless move to the top of Chart Track’s UK Software Sales listing this week after a hiatus of over five years and a debut appearance on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Uncharted: Golden Abyss is the PS Vita launch title with the highest production values and greatest reputation to uphold. The three Uncharted titles on PlayStation 3 are all award-winning, universally appreciated games so developer Bend Studio certainly had a mountain to climb trying to emulate Naughty Dog’s success with the first portable entry in the series.

If you didn’t expect the PS Vita and its massive line-up of launch titles to dominate Chart Track’s UK Software Sales listing this week, then you are wrong because no less than two of the handheld’s games managed to occupy the first places in the chart this past week, sweeping previous chart-toppers clean out of the way.
The PS Vita is the most powerful handheld device the world has ever seen, possessing a 4-core CPU and GPU along with 512MB of system RAM. The device’s technical specs allow it to output graphics that are comparable to games running on PS3 - an astonishing accomplishment.
Many of you will be picking up a PS Vita this week so naturally you’ll want to check out a few demos to see what your new system is capable of.
There’ll be a few demos available on the US PlayStation Store this week including ones for Rayman Origins, Hustle Kings, Unit 13 and FIFA Soccer.
It’s no secret that the PS Vita has more control options that any handheld before it, with a seemingly limitless number of inputs. One of the launch titles which serves as a great advert for PS Vita’s potential in this area is Uncharted: Golden Abyss.
With the Japanese launch of PS Vita right around the corner, Sony appears to be marketing Uncharted: Golden Abyss as the ‘must have’ launch title. This will be the first time an Uncharted title releases in Japan before the rest of the world, so it feels somewhat strange to watch new trailers for this American-developed game playing out in a foreign language.
If you don’t mind importing consoles and games from Asia, then mark December 23rd on your calendar. That’s the day you’ll be able to get your hands on the Chinese/English version of Uncharted: Golden Abyss by either importing it or downloading it from the Asian PlayStation Store.
The last couple of days have been incredibly exciting for PS Vita enthusiasts as new details and trailers for the system emerge from gamescom. During the Sony press conference last night a couple of new titles were announced for Vita including the awesome-looking Resistance: Burning Skies. However, there was no mention of one of the most anticipated Vita titles - Uncharted: Golden Abyss.
Do you have twenty seconds to spare, but you also have a burning desire to see the PS Vita-exclusive Uncharted: Golden Abyss in action? Perhaps you would like a quick look at a few of the features of the game to see how Sony’s Bend Studio is taking advantage of the super powered handheld?
Then stop reading and start watching!
All eyes were on Sony at E3 2011 during the week of June 6th, and everyone was expecting the company to not only reveal concrete information on its upcoming handheld, but also blow us away with brand new game announcements, with a good showing of known and upcoming games, too.
And for the most part, Sony didn’t disappoint. While there were no massive, unhinged game announcements (like, say, God of War 4 for example), we learned a whole lot more about the PlayStation Vita (including its name, obviously, and pricing) while seeing incredible new demonstrations of upcoming PlayStation 3 titles.
One of the features I’d love to see added to PlayStation Vita’s already-impressive arsenal is the ability to play PlayStation 3 games on the device via Remote Play.
Imagine a scenario in the near future where your annoying little sister wants to watch an episode of Hannah Montana and you want nothing more than to chill in front of the TV playing Uncharted 3. After much remonstration in front of mom, your sister is granted her wish thanks to her being a more effective manipulator than you.
If I had my way, and Sony was willing to oblige, this type of situation wouldn’t prevent you from getting your fix of Uncharted. Simply register your Vita with your PS3 and enable Remote Play, and you can stream the video and audio of Uncharted 3 to your Vita over WiFi without having to even physically turn your PS3 on.

If you head on over to the official PlayStation Vita site you can now play an interactive demo of Uncharted: Golden Abyss.
Today has been an incredible day for PlayStation fans, with all sorts of exciting NGP and PlayStation Store announcements continuously being posted on the North American and European PlayStation blogs.
