EL33TONLINE: News tag archive: uncharted3
During our time with the Uncharted series of action adventure games, we’ve been on many daring, hair-raising and outstanding adventures with Nathan Drake and his real-life counter-part, Nolan North, but this voice actor is much more than just the devil may care relic hunter.
Even if you don’t realise it, you’ve probably heard Nolan North in the majority of the games you’ve played in the last few years, including Batman: Arkham City (as The Penguin and a collection of thugs), Assassin’s Creed (protagonist Miles), Skyrim, Diablo III and many, many more.
It should come as no surprise, then, that someone as versatile as North would be able to make an appearance in an upcoming blockbuster Hollywood film.
Naughty Dog has announced that patch 1.11 for Uncharted 3 will be available to download by the end of this month. The update is entirely multiplayer focused and sees the return of two Uncharted 2 staples - The Lab and Elimination mode - as well as a few other tweaks including a more severe penalty for rage quitters.
Due to Sony holding regular scheduled PlayStation Network maintenance on Thursdays, we decided to play Uncharted 3 on Tuesday this time round. Eight players logged on at 8pm last night and we enjoyed a number of rounds of Team Deathmatch and Team Objective multiplayer action.
At El33tonline, we’ve been enthralled by the Uncharted series of action adventure games from Naughty Dog since the very first sampling as we embarked on high adventures, dangerous treasure hunts and epic journeys across the world in search of fortune. Not fame, so much.
So we’re extremely pleased to hear that the Uncharted series has collectively sold over 17 million units around the world with entries to the series including Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune in 2007, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves two years later, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception in 2011 and, more recently, Uncharted: Golden Abyss for PS Vita.
To celebrate this achievement, Sony Computer Entertainment has announced a Game of the Year Edition for Uncharted 3!
We’ve been a little jittery lately. We’re getting the shakes and we don’t know why. It’s like… a withdrawal. We haven’t got our regularly scheduled doses of something but we can’t quite put a finger on what…
As we think about what could possibly be missing from our day-to-day lives, we’re going to be jumping onto PlayStation Network tonight at around 8pm (South African) to play a few multiplayer rounds of Uncharted 3.
Are you keen?
For now, you can add Numphie, Ofiler, AchtungBaby, LAblak22 and DeadaimZA, and who knows, maybe Mcbeanstr and even baas_oltman will join in, too.
Hope to see you later!
(Note: We won’t be playing on any DLC maps, but please make sure your version of Uncharted 3 is patched up and ready to go.)
Naughty Dog is trying to outdo itself this week by releasing two Uncharted 3 patches in a single day, starting with title update 1.08 today, April 9th, before moving on to title update 1.09.
The team is taking all of the ‘work’ out of downloading these patches, however, by rolling them into a single update. Confused? You shouldn’t be, it’s super simple: they’re just making you aware of a bunch of discrete changes made in two separate updates.
Let’s discover what’s fixed, changed and new in Uncharted 3 versions 1.08 and 1.09 below, together:
While we at El33tonline have certain opinions on the support that Naughty Dog has provided for the functionality of Uncharted 3 multiplayer, the developer’s support of the game through content has been incredible with loads of new online arenas and characters to download from launch.
Why, just next week four new multiplayer maps for Uncharted 3 will become available and by the looks of the newly released trailer and screenshots, they’re looking truly remarkable.
El33tonline has been enamoured with the Uncharted series since day one and with the introduction of its multiplayer modes in Uncharted 2, members of the team were always keen for pick-up games of three-player co-op, team deathmatch or any of the other online modes.
We have also met with many frustrations while trying to get our fix of Uncharted multiplayer, ever since Uncharted 2. El33tonline’s Lisa even wrote an excellent editorial detailing how to fix one of Uncharted 3’s many peculiar problems while humorously revealing our frustrations with what is otherwise an awesome game.
It seems Uncharted 3 multiplayer is going to go through more woes soon, however, with the introduction of the game’s next patch.
One of the most graphically impressive moments in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception occurs when you find yourself in a ship graveyard. From the sloshing sea to the meticulously detailed, decrepit ships, this was one of those times when I realised just how talented and hard-working Naughty Dog’s design team is.
Surely the 2012 edition of the BAFTA Game Awards were cleaned up by Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls V: Skryim, Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 3 and Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3?
Nope.
In fact, after receiving a number of nominees for this year’s awards ceremony, none of them received a single final nod, while titles like Portal 2, Battlefield 3 and Batman: Arkham City swept up most of the awards at the show.
You can read through the full list of nominees over here, and compare them to the final list of BAFTA Game Awards winners below:
Naughty Dog has just revealed further details on its (until now) mysterious co-operative downloadable content, the Shade Survival Mode, which we now know to contain those dastardly [redacted] enemies from the [redacted] of the singleplayer campaign.
If you haven’t got the hint by now, there might be some story spoilers for Uncharted 3 singleplayer so tread lightly if you want to avoid ruining the surprise.
Another patch for Uncharted 3 has recently been made available over PlayStation Network, bringing the game up to version 1.07.
What does this title update do? Let. Us. See:
Uncharted developer Naughty Dog has announced that title update 1.05 for Uncharted 3 has been released and should be available now in your region. If it’s not, it’ll hit your part of the world very soon.
What does the latest patch for Uncharted 3 fix? The developer has once again focussed on multiplayer issues and has this time corrected at least one of the problems members of El33tonline in particular have encountered, but we’re still going to have to wait until the other issues we’ve seen are addressed.
Here’s what’s been fixed in patch 1.05:
The talented folks over at Naughty Dog have spent the last few months cooking up more delicious DLC for us to spice up our Uncharted 3 multiplayer sessions with.
Uncharted creator Naughty Dog is no stranger to receiving awards from a wide variety of sources. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves won over fifty Game of the Year awards in 2009 and last year’s Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception was no slouch in the awards department either.
