Naughty Dog has revealed their next project on SCEA’s PlayStation Blog and it is none other than, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

Game Informer January 2009 CoverAlthough details of the game are still sketchy at the moment, we do know that Nathan Drake’s next adventure will be set in a snowy region and that it revolves around the voyages of 13th century explorer Marco Polo. We gathered this intel from the teaser trailer (below) as well as the January 2009 cover of Game Informer (which promises the first in-depth look at Uncharted 2).

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves will add a free climbing mechanic and stealth gameplay. PS3 gamers can also look forward to new locations, characters and a focus on the game’s story.

If you are a fan of the Uncharted series, make sure you tune in to the 2008 Video Game Awards on the 14th of December, the world premiere of the first trailer will debut at 9pm on Spike.

If you want to know why we are so excited about this sequel, make sure you read our review of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.

We described it as “featuring great production values, some decent acting, great action sequences, top notch graphics, special effects and an enjoyable story.” And, as if that wasn’t enough, it is “great fun and varied enough to lift Drake’s Fortune above the source material to be one of the best games on the PlayStation 3.”

Pretty good in other words.

You remember Bungie announced that game, Halo 3: Recon, which was to act as a kind of standalone game set in the Halo universe, following the exploits an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper in the currently-occupied city of New Mombasa, promising an all new campaign, as well as additional Halo 3 content?

Well, it’s still coming, only under a different name. Instead of the subtitle ‘Recon,’ Bungie are going with the less easy to remember (and say) ‘ODST,’ meaning the full title of the afore-explained game is Halo 3: ODST. Same game, different name, although we’re still assured we’ll get access to the Recon armour. That would only have made sense to Halo players…

In the theme of ‘same… same,’ Bungie have released an announcement trailer, which is the same trailer you may have already seen a couple dozen times before, but here it is to enjoy… again.

Halo 3: ODST will be releasing ‘next fall,’ while the Halo 3 Mythic Map Pack will be hitting Xbox LIVE Marketplace early next year. To learn more than you’d ever care to know about the ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Trooper), you can head on over to Bungie’s site for an internal interview with Bungie’s fiction guru.

What a peculiar and-simultaneously-amazing video. It features some guy on a bike with a Guitar Hero themed handlebar, riding over little coloured dots on the road to simulate the in-game Guitar Hero fret board, getting ‘star power’ and multipliers along the way, eventually finishing the song with a ‘You Rock!’ Which song? Prisoner of Society by The Living End, on Hard difficulty, of course.

Was this the work of Activision PR, or a group of people with a little too much time on their hands? Surely the former… surely. Watch below and be amazed.

Thanks to Variety for the heads up.

Guitar Hero On Tour was a fun game, effectively bringing the Guitar Hero experience to the Nintendo DS with the addition of the Guitar Grip, an accessory that slots into the GBA port enabling you to click those buttons in time with the music - just like a real plastic guitar!

Now, because On Tour was such a smash hit, selling a million units on its launch week, a follow-up is naturally expected, so here comes Guitar Hero On Tour: Decades, featuring music from the 70’s up until today, allowing player of the original DS game to play multiplayer against owners of Decades, playing songs from either game.

Head on over here for the full track list available with the game or watch the launch trailer below to see just how awesome Decades is:

Guitar Hero On Tour: Decades releases November 14th (tomorrow) in the UK and Europe, while in an apparent change of plans, it’s available November 17th in the US.

It’s just been announced that the latest entry to the Need For Speed series, Undercover, has gone gold, which is cutting it a bit close for its release date later this month…

Need For Speed: Undercover follows in the grand tradition of previous NFS titles, with adrenaline-pumping car chases, vehicle customisation and the excellently cheesy live-action cut-scenes, featuring up-and-coming and/or current Hollywood talent. This edition returns to the streets, as well as the shady world of underground racing.

Watch the battle trailer below to get a dose of all of the above.

Need for Speed: Undercover has a release date of November 18th in the US and November 21st in the UK and Europe.
