Another week, another dominant showing by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox LIVE, as the all-singing all-dancing first-person shooter was… once again, the most played game on the service over the past week.
While Halo 3 shows up at No. 2 in this particular ranking, newcomer Red Dead Redemption appears at No. 3. Is this a surprise contender to Modern Warfare 2’s throne? Time will tell.
Top selling Xbox LIVE Arcade games include The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition in first place, debut title Metal Slug XX in second, and Game Room (and its collection of games) in third. The list of best selling Xbox LIVE Indie Games is topped by Avatar Racedrome, followed by Baby Maker Extreme and The Impossible Game.

What’s it going to take?! What supernatural act in the world of gaming will be able to shift Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 from its position of power at the top of Xbox LIVE’s Activity ranking, and allow another game – any game – to claim the No. 1 spot on the list?
As you may have guessed, Modern Warfare 2 was still the most played game on Xbox LIVE over the last week, as the combined efforts of Halo 3: ODST, the Halo: Reach multiplayer beta and Halo 3 could not tilt the balance of power, and return the world to the way it was before ‘The Dark Presence’ appeared… on November 10th 2009.
As for best selling Xbox LIVE Arcade games, Zombie Apocalypse tops that particular chart, while the combined sales of Game Room games sits at No. 2 on the list, and Toy Soldiers appears at No. 3.
The list of top selling Xbox Indie Games is ruled by Baby Maker Extreme at No. 1, with Avatar Onslaught and I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES!!!1 at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively.
This week, we’ve also got access to a list of the most played Games For Windows (GFW) games, as Grand Theft Auto IV, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II and Colin McRae : Dirt 2 appear at the top of that ranking.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has managed to last yet another week atop the Xbox LIVE Activity rankings, remaining the most played game on the service for the past week despite the encroaching competition of Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

For 1200 MS Points today, you’ll be able to purchase and download a new Xbox LIVE Arcade game by the name of Toy Soldiers, which is officially described thus:
“Command your TOY SOLDIERS in epic, action-packed battles set in a World War I toy diorama. Assemble your troops and position your defenses before the enemy storms over the top!
“Then take direct control of your artillery to bomb the enemy positions, pilot your bi-plane against the enemy trench, or maneuver your tanks across No-Man’s Land… and lead your TOY SOLDIERS to victory!
“Play the single-player campaign and dive into two-player head-to-head combat, local or on Xbox LIVE.”

As part of what Microsoft is calling its ‘Xbox LIVE Arcade Block Party’, a bunch of Xbox LIVE Arcade games, including Perfect Dark XBLA and Toy Soldiers, as well as the recently announced Xbox LIVE classic arcade gaming destination, Game Room, will all become available during the month of March, now with exact dates to look forward to.
