The story goes as follows: Some of the makers of Diablo formed Runic Games and gave us Torchlight. It draws heavily on the aforementioned game, but has a streamlined coat of paint to take some of the unnecessary tedium out. First released on PC in 2009, it has now been released on Xbox Live Arcade with a redesigned interface, from your inventory to controlling the character.

Your adventure starts in the town of Torchlight with a corrupted mine and goes deep underground as you seek out the source of the evil. The journey is a very friendly and enjoyable one. Presented through a colourful palette and a touch of cartoonlike design, it is a welcome deviation from the grim world of Diablo. The story is only narrated, very well I might add, but it could really benefit from some form of cut-scenes to help set the stage.
