Tom Clancy’s HAWX, a game leaning much more towards an arcade-style aerial combat flight simulation than full-out realism, has entered itself into a very unique genre, and a genre that is only getting more and more niche as time goes by without new entries. You would think that this would single the game out amongst the newer game releases in other genres as it’s the ‘only game in town,’ but, for one reason or another, HAWX seems unnecessary in the current videogame climate.
There are no doubt fans of the console flight sim genre, as the sixth iteration of Namco’s Ace Combat series, and the warmly received Blazing Angels, can attest, but Tom Clancy’s HAWX comes off as feeling lifeless and unloved, as though the developers were simply going through the motions of making a flight sim because there was a perceived gap in the market, which is the very attitude that leads to something more closely akin to cash-in movie-licensed games.

Due to a technical issue present in the PS3 version of the Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. demo, it will not be released on the PlayStation Network today as planned.
The issue with the PS3 H.A.W.X. demo involves a bug that prevents players from playing the co-operative mode, which Ubisoft have deemed unacceptable as the co-op mode is one of the key features of the game.
The PS3 demo for Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. will instead be released on February 26th.

Ubisoft have announced that a demo will soon be available for their aerial combat game, Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. From the press release:
“In this demo, players will dominate the skies for the first time and battle planes, tanks and amphibious assaults and have the opportunity to dogfight with other elite pilots in a stunning panoramic boss scene.”
Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. allows player to take to the skies in a variety of fighter jets, as the story deals with the problems and complications that Private Military Companies (PMCs) bring to the modern battlefield.
The Tom Clany’s H.A.W.X. demo will be available on Xbox LIVE tomorrow (February 11th) and the PlayStation Store on Thursday (February 12th), while a demo on the PC will follow on February 26th. Peep below for all of the features you can expect to find in the demo:
Ubisoft has announced the development of Tom Clancy’s HAWX, an air combat game that is scheduled to be released on the Xbox 360 and PS3 this fall.
Developed by Ubisoft’s Bucharest studio, Tom Clancy’s HAWX promises to deliver “an intense and authentic aerial combat experience.” The game’s story begins in 2012 when nations are becoming more dependent on private military companies but soon concerns arise regarding giving these elite mercenaries too much power. Players will be able to fly over 50 famous aircrafts in the game in this first air combat game set in the Tom Clancy video game universe.
Tom Clancy’s HAWX will feature an enhanced reality system that will help novices to become elite pilots thanks to radars and incoming missile detection, anti-crash system, damage control system, tactical map and information relay and weapons trajectory control. Players will also be able to use this new system to issue orders to their squadron. The game features an assistance mode to help players.
Players will still be able to use the enhanced reality system while employing the assistance mode, however, safety features can be deactivated to allow advanced dogfighting maneuvers and third person views.
This is the first time that players will be able to enjoy a multiplayer experience in an air combat game. Jump in co-op mode allows four players to enjoy the solo campaign. Players can also look forward to challenging up to 15 friends in dogfighting maneuvers in PVP mode. Should you win you will be rewarded with experience points and money which you can use to unlock more weapons.
