I have watched as the series grew in popularity over the years, been dismayed when it began to crumble a little over the past few years, excited when The Guardian of Light bore testament to a reawakening of the might of Lara Croft, and amazed when the new re-imagined Tomb Raider was revealed.

Square Enix LogoSquare Enix used this year’s edition of E3 to place an emphasis on its attention to the company’s new partnerships with Western developers, with known quantities like Dungeon Siege III and Deus Ex: Human Revolution on show alongside still-mysterious titles such as the new Tomb Raider and Hitman games.

Crystal Dynamics has released a batch of new screenshots for Tomb Raider, the reboot to the series that’s scheduled to be released in Fall 2012.

These new screenshots show Lara Croft abandoned and afraid on an island as she “begins her gritty adventure of self discovery.” The game tells “the story of a young and inexperienced Lara Croft who finds out just how far she must go in order to stay alive.”

Tomb Raider Art 1 SmallCrystal Dynamics has announced that it will be releasing the first CG trailer for Tomb Raider on the 3rd of June.

Entitled ‘Turning Point,’ the debut trailer will be made available at tombraider.com at 7am GMT on the 3rd of June.

But we’ll all be able to enjoy a teaser of the trailer when the Tomb Raider Facebook page hits 100 000 likes, so get to work El33t Peeps!

Tomb Raider Art 1 Small Following news of a new Resident Evil movie, word doing the rounds today is that a new Tomb Raider film is currently in the works after production company GK Films recently acquired the movie rights to the classic videogame franchise.

While this new movie will miss the release of the next game in the series, there is talk that the big screen adaptation of Tomb Raider will follow a similar route to Crystal Dynamics’ title which aims to act as an origin story (or ‘reboot’) of sorts.

Earlier this year Crystal Dynamics took the wraps off of ‘The Tomb Raider Trilogy,’ a compilation of past Tomb Raider games on one Blu-ray disc for PlayStation 3.

When the trilogy pack goes on sale later this month, you’ll be able to get your hands on remastered versions of Tomb Raider Legend and Tomb Raider Anniversary (i.e. high definition art assets used to improve the visuals), as well as Tomb Raider Underworld (which was previously release for PS3) – all in one collection!

As for Tomb Raider itself? If the images included below are actual in-game screenshots, then it’s looking pretty dang awesome, and you should definitely look forward to Lara Croft’s ‘debut’ adventures, due for release later this year.

The Tomb Raider Trilogy Pack - Box Art SmallTomb Raider franchise stewards Crystal Dynamics recently announced the existence of The Tomb Raider Trilogy Pack, a collection of remastered Tomb Raider games that will become available exclusively for the PlayStation 3 at the end of March this year.

Comprising high-definition quality renditions of Tomb Raider Legend and Tomb Raider Anniversary, as well as the most recent Lara Croft adventure, Tomb Raider Underworld, The Tomb Raider Trilogy Pack will also include a specially-created PS3 theme, an official Lara Croft female Home avatar outfit, the Viking Thrall male Home avatar outfit, and a collection of high-definition ‘making of’ trailers featuring behind-the-scenes looks at development of games from the entire Tomb Raider series.

Tomb Raider Game Informer Cover SmallSquare Enix has just announced the existence of a brand new Tomb Raider game, currently in development at franchise stewards Crystal Dynamics.

The new Tomb Raider title, previously rumoured to be a reboot of the series, finds franchise-long hero Lara Croft embarking on her very first adventure after a storm destroys the boat she was travelling on, and leaves her stranded on an unknown beach in an unknown part of the world.

Much unlike the Lara Croft we know now, this new adventure will see her as a “frightened young woman,” left on her own to survive in a brutal new world against unknown challenges… and enemies:

Megan Fox, invader of dreams and star of Transformers, has turned down the coveted role of Lara Croft for the next Tomb Raider movie. According to reports she said no to the duel pistols and tight shorts because she doesn’t want to encourage any more comparisons to the film’s original star, Angelina Jolie.
