Golfing games sure have changed a lot from where I was younger and playing ‘Leaderboard Golf’ on the PC (“Um… looks like he hit a tree, Jim”) and I was excited to play Tiger Woods 13 when it arrived. Even though I was highly anticipating this game, however, I was unprepared for just how good it actually is. A few weeks ago El33tonline teamed up with EA South Africa to give away four copies of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 in our latest sports-themed competition.
We asked you what your preferred control scheme for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 would be, and many of you seemed keen on using either Kinect or PlayStation Move to swing your virtual golf club rather than the standard controller.
Despite a bit of a slip last week as Kinect Star Wars claimed No. 1 on Chart Track’s UK Software sales listing, FIFA Street (sales down 22%) has re-entered that lofty position, giving the title four (non-consecutive) weeks at the top of the chart.
Slow and steady wins the race, plain sailing at an even pace… it’s Friday… and… there’s no energy left to complete that rhyme.
We’re signing off for today after an exciting week of news, previews, interviews and media from Capcom’s Captivate 2012 showcase event, with new reveals for Resident Evil 6, DmC, Dragon’s Dogma and more, as well as the surprise announcement of Lost Planet 3!
Before we slink off into the night, a few members of El33tonline let us know what they’ll be up to this weekend, so it’s only fair that you tell us what games you’ll be playing over the next two days, too:
EA takes the UK videogame sales chart by storm this week and holds four places in the top five and a total of six places in the overall Top Ten, which is a master achievement by anyone’s standards.
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 will truly test the Kinect’s capabilities when it launches today in the US and on Friday (March 30th) in European territories. Being able to practice your swing in the comfort of your living room is certainly an appealing prospect but how accurately the Kinect can read the velocity and angle of your shot is something only time will tell.
EA has just sent out the word that a demo for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 is now available on Xbox LIVE, releasing a selection of fetching new screenshots to accompany the announcement!
The Tiger Woods series of golf games from EA Sports is a weird phenomenon. A new iteration of the game releases every year and the developers never seem to put a foot wrong while steadily improving the franchise with every entry, pleasing fans and introducing innovations without fault.
Why can’t all developers and game franchises be handled this way?
Golf game fans (and Kinect and PlayStation Move fans, too), we’re going to give you a chance to investigate this unflappable series of videogames with the help of EA South Africa, because we’ve got four copies (two on Xbox 360 and two on PlayStation) of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 to give away!

This year’s edition of Tiger Woods PGA Tour has a lot of new features and loads of real-world golfers to offer, but potentially the most exciting addition to the series with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 is the inclusion of support for Kinect.
Imagine using the swing of your own arms to make a shot in the game, without a controller. Imagine using voice commands and simple hand gestures to set up your shots. Image Tiger Woods playing as Tiger Woods in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13.
Wait, what?
Currently in development at EA Tiburon, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 has recently received a concrete March release date while exciting new features have also been more fully detailed and announced, with information on the game’s Xbox 360 Kinect functionality, online and social features, the ‘golf legacy’ mode and revamped ‘swing’ mechanic.
