EA Sports Logo If you’re one of those people that bemoan the annualisation of sports game franchises and decry the addition of minor perceivable improvements and roster updates to games like FIFA and Madden, and if you’re a hardcore sports game fan that wants to get your hands on these latest games as soon as possible, EA and EA Sports have just launched a solution.

The ‘EA Sports Season Ticket’ has been launched across Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms for four of the publisher’s biggest sports titles, namely FIFA, Madden NFL Football, NHL hockey and Tiger Woods PGA Tour.

This programme is said to provide “premium benefits for a better gaming experience” for the included sports titles, but what exactly does this mean? Let’s investigate!

Electronic Arts LogoEvery year (and every few months), EA shuts down online server support for a selection (and in same cases, an entire crop) of its games to make way for the support of future online-enabled titles, ostensibly to provide better features and support for the new blood.

Last year, the biggest shock was the discontinuation of server support for EA’s Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle-earth strategy games, and this year the list of games set to be without official features includes games from the Battlefield, Need For Speed and Tiger Woods franchises, amongst others.

EA has taken the wraps off a new season of golf tournament with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10.

The game will include the U.S. Open (a USGA championship and the USGA’s Rules of Golf) for the first time ever. Another first is the real-time weather that means your game’s weather conditions will match the current weather conditions.
