Everybody needs a friend. For a long time, if you did not have any human friends you could create some Sim friends to play with. But even those friends need friends of their own. And if a dog is man’s best friend, then The Sims 3: Pets is your Sim’s best friend.
This is the third attempt by EA to introduce the idea of pets into a Sims franchise, and their previous efforts have been met with lukewarm receptions. Does it mean it is “third time lucky?”

Warner Bros. Interactive and Rocksteady Studios’ latest blockbuster action adventure game, Batman: Arkham City, has hit the top of Chart Track’s UK Software Sales listing this week to become the fourth biggest videogame launch in the UK this year, following in the footsteps of other big name titles like FIFA 12, Gears of War 3 and LA Noire.
Just when you thought it was safe to start playing games in your back catalogue, along comes this week’s slate of releases to cause your already-packed shelf to collapse under the weight of another torrent of shiny titles.
This is the best time of year to get stuck into some quality console time, everybody, but not such a great time for your pockets, unfortunately.
rAge 2011 in Johannesburg was packed to the absolute brim with upcoming, unreleased games from developers and publishers of all sizes, and EA was once again fully present at the show this year with an excellent collection of titles.
Did you know that pets were the most requested addition to The Sims franchise? Neither did I, but I quickly saw why so many members of The Sims community had wanted the inclusion of pets during the hands-on time I spent with The Sims 3: Pets at gamescom.
The Sim 3: Pets will be a new standalone game for the Xbox 360, PS3 and Nintendo 3DS, and an expansion pack for the PC.

EA has taken the wraps off The Sims 3: Pets, a new stand-alone game for the Xbox 360, PS3 and Nintendo 3DS and an expansion pack for the PC.
Players will be able to create, customise and control over a hundred different kinds of cats and dogs, even breeding and sharing them with friends to create new breeds.
