EL33TONLINE: News tag archive: thesims3
It is no secret that I quite adore The Sims. Yes, I groan every time a new expansion is released, but I have to keep up the appearance of a serious games reviewer. And The Sims just does not bode well for a gamer of my caliber.
But the problem with that is the fact that The Sims are simply too addictive to overlook. And if you look at the sales figures for The Sims I can take comfort in knowing I am most certainly not alone in this!

Following the announcement of a new expansion pack titled The Sims 3: Showtime last year, EA has revealed a Collector’s Edition version of the content which the publisher calls “Katy Perry-themed.”
Following its announcement last week, EA has released a pair of new screenshots for The Sims 3 Showtime, an expansion pack for The Sims 3 that will this time allow you to live out your dreams of making it big as a stage performer with acts including singing, dancing, magic, DJ’ing and more.
The screens showcase two performers at the top of their game with an enthralled audience transfixed to every movement - do you think you’ve got what it takes to ‘enthral’ an audience? It ain’t easy:
The next addition to the expansive Sims 3 series has been named and detailed, and come March 2012, players of EA’s people simulator will be able to ‘let their colours burst’ in The Sims 3 Showtime!
EA has announced a brand new expansion pack for The Sims 3 that will soon allow you to “[p]ull teenage pranks, have a midlife crisis, wreak havoc with your imaginary friend and more.”
The Sims 3 really is a life simulator, isn’t it?
All Sims 3 expansions are split into two groups: You get your full expansion packs that change the way the whole game works, adding new careers, locations and things to do - it may very well change the way you play the game altogether. Then you get ‘Stuff Packs.’ As the name suggests, these are packs full of stuff. Stuff like new furniture, new carpets, and maybe a fish tank or two. The Outdoor Living Stuff Pack focuses on - you guessed it - outdoor stuff.
As a Stuff Pack, Outdoor Living Stuff does not add any new gameplay features that will make you go “Wow! I must have this now!” It includes small additions that make you wonder why they weren’t included in the first place.

The Sims has traditionally been a stronghold on PC. For EA, it was a license to print money. Endless expansions and now on its 2nd sequel, it seems nothing can stop them now. But on console it has been a different story. The Sims 2 did not sell as well on console as it did on PC, and I am having a hard time recalling any version before that. So it’s with some trepidation that I’m venturing back to the land of the Sims with this new version for console, The Sims 3.
Let’s recap for newcomers to the Sims universe:
You play some sort of detached cursor that sees to the needs of a little family of Sims. They, like normal people, will need to eat, sleep, have relationships, go to work, earn money, spend money, go to the loo, and ultimately die. By paying careful attention to a Sim’s specific needs you can tell them when to have lunch, and when to take a bath.
It sounds rather mundane, looking after someone else’s life when your own is probably more in need of attention, yet it has to be one of the most addictive game series available today. Sales charts will back me up here: there is almost always a ‘Sims’ title in the top-sellers list, and often more than one at a time.

Fable III mounted a revolution this past week and stormed the castles of FIFA 11 and Fallout: New Vegas to break Chart Track’s UK Software Sales Chart free from their tyrannical reign!
…
That’s just a fancy way of saying that Fable III is No. 1 on the UK Software Sales listing for this past week, outperforming FIFA 11 and Fallout: New Vegas to claim the top spot.

The Sims 3: Late Night expansion pack gives players the chance to let their Sims try out a whole bunch of new tricks, including becoming a vampire and rocking out in a band.
EA has released a batch of ghoulish new screenshots for the upcoming expansion pack for The Sims 3, Late Night.
