Great news for Monkey Island fans, the Monkey Island Special Edition Collection will be available across Europe this September.
The collection will include The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition and Monkey Island 2: Special Edition: LeChuck’s Revenge, and to celebrate the occasion you’ll be getting new bonus content too, some never-before-seen content from LucasArts.
Like its counterpart in the US, the European PlayStation Store update this week will be chock full of great digital delights, including special price offers on a great set of games (including PixelJunk Monsters) and a ton of Sonic games (to celebrate the blue guy’s 19th birthday).
Also, downloadable content for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be available to all of you European types today, alongside new content for Just Cause 2 and Lost Planet 2 (don’t forget the new-and-free DLC for Red Dead Redemption!), as well as a new episode of Sam & Max, and The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition.
The usual interesting and exciting assortment of themes, wallpapers, videos, downloadable games, extra DLC and Rock Band and Guitar Hero tracks will also make an appearance a little later today on the European PlayStation Store, so head on down below to browse through the full list:
Xbox LIVE Gold members this week will be treated to a half-price discount on the excellent Xbox LIVE Arcade game, The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition – the remake of The Secret of Monkey Island.
Gold members will only need to pay 400 MS Points for the classic adventure game, while special Xbox LIVE Avatar items, the official Monkey Island Cotton Swab and LeChuck Pirate Hat, are also half-off this week.

In addition to announcing that it would be releasing classic titles including The Dig and LOOM via Steam, LucasArts also revealed that The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition will be released on the 15th of July. It will be available on Xbox Live Arcade and PC via Steam as well as “other online distribution channels.”
The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition is a “a completely re-imagined version of the first game in the series that adds updated high definition graphics, a re-mastered musical score, and full voiceover to the classic adventure game originally launched in 1990.”
LucasArts have announced that their much admired series of adventure games, Monkey Island, will be seeing a return to the world of gaming with two new Monkey Island related announcements.
One of the new announcements is a remake of the classic first game, The Secret of Monkey Island, with all new graphics and features, including re-mastered music and voice acting, with the ability to swap back to the graphics from the original adventure at any time.
This offering, entitled The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition, will be available on Xbox LIVE Arcade and as a PC download in the Summer of this year.
The second announcement is related to a series of five episodic games entitled Tales of Monkey Island, currently in development at Telltale Games (Sam and Max, Strongbad) to be released on PC and WiiWare starting July 7th. The set-up for the game is explained thus:
