It’s the end of another week here at El33tonline and time once again to settle into the weekend with tons of quality games!
Find out what members of El33tonline will be busy with over the next few days, but be sure to let us know what games you’ll be playing this weekend, too:
Today is a great day for Lord of the Rings fans looking forward to the upcoming War in the North action game from Snowblind and Warner Bros. Interactive.
Why?
Because not only has a brand new gameplay video been released alongside two brand new screenshots, but the game’s launch trailer has been released, simultaneously confirming the release date and raising neck hairs in fine fashion.
Get all of that below, but don’t miss Wayne’s preview of Lord of the Rings: War in the North over here and be sure to rummage through El33tonline’s past coverage here.
Now, you shall pass:
Videogame fans are among some of the most loyal and dedicated fans you’ll find in the world. We pre-order, we overspend our budgets on collectors editions, we queue for hours to be one of the first to get our hands on a game, and we fill our shelves with figurines.
One of the other things that we do is dress up. Whether it’s Ezio from Assassin’s Creed, the witch from Left 4 Dead or just scary zombies, videogame fans love to imitate their favourite videogame characters.
Here’s a few pictures of the fans we found wandering the halls of gamescom (don’t miss Part 2!).
I am somewhat of a Lord of the Rings fan, owning all the extended editions movies, the books and boardgames on offer. Armed with this knowledge I was well prepared for a look into Lord of the Rings: War in the North. I was wondering what direction the game would take and at which audience it was being aimed at.
My greatest hope for the game is that it will deliver a mature experience that was entertaining, and make use of the wealth of content available to make it possible to experience the magic of Middle Earth first-hand.

We’re getting closer to nailing down a final, official release date for The Lord of the Rings: War in the North, as Warner Bros. Interactive and Snowblind Studios have today revealed that the epic-looking fantasy action RPG will become available in November across Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, with the announced collector’s edition releasing alongside it.
To get in the mood for some good old-fashioned co-operative hacking, slashing and magic action set in the grand, storied world of Middle-earth, you can have a look at the newly released box art for The Lord of the Rings: War in the North below.
Also look forward to El33tonline’s coverage of the title at gamescom this year, and peruse our previous looks at the game over here for tons of screenshots, information and videos:
Alongside a ‘Fall’ release window announcement for Warner Bros. Interactive and Snowblind Studios’ fantasy-themed action game RPG, Lord of the Rings: War in the North, the pair have released details and images for the game’s (massive) Collector’s Edition, with information on pre-order incentives available in North America.
Warner Bros. Interactive and Snowblind Studios were showing the pair’s fantasy action title The Lord of the Rings: War in the North at E3 2011 this week with a frenzy of brand new screenshots, gameplay demonstrations and an awesome look at Beleram of the Great Eagles.
The cooperative elements of War in the North were also showcased as ‘the Fellowship of three’ (the human, elf and dwarf) banded together to forge ahead in an effort to overthrow Agandaur, Sauron’s chief lieutenant in the North.
Lord of the Rings isn’t only about people with hairy feet, transformed wizards and talking trees you know! It’s also about war, vicious combat, swords and orcs being separated from their limbs.
Y’know, classic Lord of the Rings stuff.
Things have been a little bit quiet as far as The Lord of the Rings: War in the North is concerned, but the situation just got a little bit more heated with the release of a brand new batch of screenshots and a very grave trailer for Snowblind Studios’ cooperative action RPG.
The new images reveal one of the more frosty areas of the game, while the trailer tells us how the land of Middle-earth is in great danger of being destroyed by the corrupting power of evil, and how three adventurers will need to infiltrate Sauron’s forces, and attempt to weaken Sauron and his boundless influence.
Late last week, Warner Bros. Interactive announced that a new game in the epic Lord of the Rings franchise will be making its way to PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2011 in the form of the cooperative action role-playing game, The Lord of the Rings: War in the North, based on the novels written by J.R.R. Tolkien, rather than the trilogy of films.
