While the launch of the 3DS may not have gone over quite as well as Nintendo (and Nintendo fans) had hoped, the 3D handheld has certainly picked up steam, and now here at the tail-end of 2011 there’s a great selection of quality titles available with many more on the way in the coming months.
Two of these excellent titles are StarFox 64 3D and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, and wouldn’t you know it, El33tonline and Nintendo South Africa gave you all a chance to win these games in a recent competition!
Who won the games? Let’s find out:
The Nintendo 3DS released earlier this year to much fanfare as everybody looking for the next great gaming and technological feat from Nintendo clamoured to get hands and eyes on the device, and while there was a bit of a dearth of great games to go along with the handheld, here in the latter half of 2011 (and following an amazing price drop for the 3DS proper), there are more than enough titles to choose from!
To give you a taste of these fantastic new titles, Nintendo South Africa and El33tonline are giving away two copies of StarFox 64 3D and a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D!
Find out how to win one of these games at El33tonline’s competition page over here, but be sure to brush up on some other 3DS titles (like Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land) - that’s all we’ll say.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a legendary game in more than just name. The original game for the Nintendo 64 regularly features at the top of “best of all time” lists and remains one of the best reviewed games in existence. All Nintendo really had to do was port it, make it 3D and send it out and it would have got accolades.

Who knew that American comedian Robin Williams has been a fan of The Legend of Zelda series since 1987, when he and his family first discovered the joys of guiding Link through trap-filled dungeons on the Nintendo Entertainment System?
In fact, he became so enamoured with the game that two years later he named his daughter Zelda after the series’ blonde princess.
The two of them will soon be gracing South African televisions in a commercial to celebrate the recent release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D for the 3DS. The advert must have already been aired in other countries since a quick YouTube search yields the video below:
No new game release managed to claim the top spot on Chart Track’s UK Software Sales listing this past week because they were all thwarted by the latest chart hero, Zumba Fitness.
Stepping up from No. 3 the week previous to No. 1 this week, Zumba Fitness has been showing signs of domination for a while now following its reign at the top weeks ago, and not only is the title sitting in the throne, but it beat The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D to do it.
Even in this day and age of internet scoops, Nintendo managed to surprise us with a few announcements at the publisher’s E3 press conference this year.
At the top of the list was the Wii U, Nintendo’s next home console and the successor to the Wii. The tablet-like controller for the Wii U has a touchscreen, dual analogue circle pads, motion controls, speakers, a microphone and a camera. The controller screen can be used instead of or along with HDTV.
This morning we brought you a new trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. Now we have a set of new screenshots for the upcoming game, which you can enjoy below.
It’s not long to go now until The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D hits shelves around the globe. In fact the game will be released next week, on the 17th of June in Europe with North America following on the 19th of June.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is arguably the most anticipated release for Nintendo’s 3DS this year, which is no mean feat considering the game itself is over ten years old. Ocarina of Time 3D isn’t the game you may remember, though.
Featuring enhanced visuals now viewable in glasses-free 3D, as well as touch-screen interface additions, motion control support and new challenges not seen in the original release, Ocarina of Time 3D is definitely still worth your time all these years later – and that’s not even making mention of the classic action and puzzle oriented gameplay, or the game’s epic story!
Nintendo of America has done us all ‘a solid’ and revealed the scheduled line-up of games due for release across the Wii, DS and 3DS in North America from now until the beginning of June.
Highlights of the list? A release date for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (with Master Quest…for 3DS), and something called Wii Play: Motion (which comes standard with a WiiMote Plus).
