If you were looking forward to playing Conduit 2 sometime this year, you’re unfortunately going to be a little disappointed, as the next entry to High Voltage and SEGA’s first-person shooter franchise has been delayed until 2011.
High Voltage Software has confirmed reports that 25 employees were recently let go, just one month after the release of the studio’s Wii-exclusive fighting game, Tournament of Legends.
Speaking to IGN, a studio representative said:
While there wasn’t much need to actually confirm the existence of Conduit 2 after it was revealed in the latest issue of Nintendo Power, it’s nice of SEGA and High Voltage to let people who don’t have access to the magazine know that it is, indeed, currently in development.
So yes: SEGA and High Voltage Software, the publisher and developer team that brought us the original The Conduit first-person shooter on the Nintendo Wii, will join forces once more to bring us Conduit 2 (which will once again be a Wii-exclusive title) this Fall.
According to videogame consumer website Nintendo Everything, a follow-up to last year’s Wii-exclusive first-person shooter The Conduit is currently in the works, and has been revealed in the latest issue of Nintendo Power.
Amongst the most intriguing details for The Conduit 2, currently in development at original developer High Voltage, is that the game is set in the fabled sunken city of Atlantis, as well as locations such as Siberia, Agartha (another legendary setting) and Washington D.C.
After taking a bit of a gamble on publishing mature titles such as The Conduit and MadWorld on the Wii, and seeing poor sales of those titles as a result of the seemingly impenetrable and unpredictable market surrounding the console, SEGA has decided not to pursue the development of any further non family-friendly titles for the Wii.
According to SEGA of America’s studio director, Constantine Hantzopoulos, and once again speaking to the guys of the ‘4 Guys 1Up’ podcast, the publisher will “probably not” develop or publish any more mature Wii titles. Hantzopoulos said:
SEGA Sammy recently reported results of their first fiscal quarter of 2010, posting a year-on-year decline in sales and a net loss for the three month period ended June 30th - net sales decreased 19 percent from the same period last year to $638.44 million, as net loss was posted at $108.66 million compared to $111.19 million last year.
Additionally, official sales figures were revealed for their Wii-exclusive first-person shooter, The Conduit, which released in the US only seven days before the end of the quarter, but ten days into the second quarter of fiscal 2010 in Europe.
Yep, that’s right - The Conduit, a Wii-exclusive first-person shooter that demonstrates just what’s possible on the platform (graphically), has finally been released in the US today, with an accompanying launch trailer to prove it.
Hopefully people buy The Conduit in droves, otherwise developers and publishers will continue to be skittish about releasing more hardcore, ‘mature’ content on the Wii, as both MadWorld, and last year’s No More Heroes, failed to set the sales charts on fire.
Get pumped for The Conduit, though, with the newly released launch trailer below:
SEGA have announced that the next big Wii release (and first-person shooter by trade), The Conduit, has had its release date delayed due to what they call a ‘localisation issue’ for the European version of the game.
The Conduit will now release in European territories on July 10th.
There’s been no change to the US release of The Conduit (June 23rd, next week), however, seeing as how it doesn’t need to ship with a half dozen language options.
SEGA and developer High Voltage Software have recently announced that their graphically impressive first-person shooter for the Wii, The Conduit, has gone gold, which means it’s ready for mass production, packaging and shipping to a store near you.
Well, a North American store, anyway, as a release date of June 23rd for that territory has been announced, while the rest of the world waits for their date. The previously announced release date of June 26th for European territories shouldn’t change, though.
The Conduit offers one of the most (if not the most) graphically impressive offerings on the Wii to date, featuring an extremely customisable first-person control scheme so you can tune sensitivity and functions to your heart’s content, while a twelve person multiplayer component is also included in the package.

As the release date draws nearer for The Conduit, a graphically rich first-person shooter on the Wii, the anticipation for the title is also growing, as the developers try to stoke the flames of excitement with this new story trailer, revealing the back-story of the game and what the player will be up against - orchestral choir music naturally included.

The Conduit releases on the Wii this June.
High Voltage Software, developers of the Wii first-person shooter The Conduit, have released a neat little trailer showcasing the multiplayer component of the game – it’s looking excellently hectic!
More details have also been revealed about The Conduit multiplayer, including the fact that the developers have reduced the number of players from sixteen to twelve to improve the balance and performance of the game. More details below, after the trailer that is:

High Voltage Software have recently released a new trailer for their upcoming Wii first-person shooter, The Conduit, which shows off the abilities of the All Seeing Eye, or the A.S.E.
The A.S.E. is a floating orb in the world of The Conduit that basically acts as a hint giving and code unlocking device, scanning through an environment to reveal hidden messages and hack computers.
Watch the A.S.E. in action in the new Conduit trailer below:
The next best hope for hardcore gamers who own a Wii is on the way in the form of the first-person shooter from High Voltage Software, The Conduit, is looking in good shape, especially after this latest round of screenshots
The shots show off a lot of the better effects in use for the game, although the levels are looking a little sparse… we’ll have to wait until The Conduit actually releases to get a better idea.

It’s been revealed that, while the upcoming Wii first-person shooter from High Voltage, The Conduit, won’t make use of Nintendo’s MotionPlus WiiMote add-on to increase accuracy of movement, it will use the Wii Speak peripheral, most probably for the game’s multiplayer component, to enable communication between players online.

The Conduit is set for release on the Wii a little later this year.
As first-person shooters go, The Conduit contains all of the standard elements fans of the genre expect; guns, explosions, corridors and aliens. Fans of the genre who own a Wii, however, don’t really expect their games to look incredibly detailed, so The Conduit, from High Voltage Software, will hold at least a few graphical surprises in store.
Below, you can see just how detailed The Conduit is, as well as compare the game’s current look and technologies with early versions of the same environments. The Conduit has come a long way and hopefully the gameplay matches the visual work when it releases later this year. Check it out:
