European fans of the XBLA and PSN hit Castle Crashers will be happy to learn about some highly-anticipated DLC which is finally making its way to the PlayStation Store tomorrow.
The ‘Pink Knight Pack’ will be available in all European territories (with the exception of Australia, Germany and New Zealand) from December 7th, and grants you access to an additional character who comes complete with a unique weapon, attacks and abilities.
Following the launch of Xbox LIVE in South Africa (and eight other countries), Xbox 360 gamers in the country have no doubt been enjoying the opportunity to officially join up with a 23 million+ member strong community of online gamers, as well as the delight of browsing Xbox LIVE Marketplace to choose from hundreds of different Xbox LIVE Arcade games…
Well… not so much that last part. Unfortunately, as a result of the complications of South Africa’s own distinct age rating and classification system through the Film and Publications Board (as opposed to PEGI and ESRB in Europe and the US respectively), we’ve been left with a sad looking line-up of Xbox LIVE Arcade games.
Due to the process of rating games individually, it’s going to take some time for so many titles to show up on South Africa’s Xbox LIVE Marketplace.
Now, however, those lovely and awesome fellows and fellowettes at indie game developer The Behemoth (Castle Crashers, Alien Hominid) have shed a little more light on the process of getting games approved on Xbox LIVE Arcade, and in the process, have promised that they will be “jumping through hoops” and “jumping on trampolines” to get their games on the South African Marketplace as soon as possible.
The Behemoth has announced that its latest project, BattleBlock Theater, will not be released in 2010.
According to a post on the developer’s blog, “Long story short, BattleBlock Theater is becoming so much more than we ever expected. It feels like no other game out there – there’s a little more r&d than we thought and lots of new ground to break.”
It took almost a year and a half, but the waiting is finally over because Castle Crashers is now available on the PlayStation Network across North America.
The excellent folk over at the Behemoth have let us know that Castle Crashers and Alien Hominid HD is on sale this week to celebrate the awesomeness that is E3.
So, if you haven’t yet played these great titles, now’s the perfect opportunity because Castle Crashers will be discounted by 33% to 800 MS Points and you’ll be able to pick up Alien Hominid HD for a whopping 50% less, now just 400 MS Points. But hurry, because the sale ends on Xbox Live on the 22nd of June!

The Behemoth has revealed a few new features for Castle Crashers for the PS3. The developer also confirmed that internal testing of the PlayStation Network title is completed, with the title now sent off to a third-party agent for final testing before it gets submitted to the PlayStation Store.
The Behemoth has added new features to the PS3 version of the popular game, including the ability to now choose teams for Player Arena matches. You’ll now be able to play 2-on-2 or take on other players with 1-v-3, but you’ll still be able to indulge in free-for-all.
The Behemoth has announced that PS3 owners are one step closer to playing Castle Crashers. According to an update on their development blog, the game has been sent to final testing and will thereafter be submitted to Sony.
“Our indefatigable programmers have been working their little fingers to the bone to make this game perfect for you. We’ve completed our internal testing, courtesy of our new Testopia office, a wonderland of testing joy. We have now sent the title off to a 3rd party vendor for final testing before we begin the submission process with Sony.”
The Behemoth (Castle Crashers and Alien Hominid HD) have been teasing us with morsels of information about their new project, the mysterious and temporarily named Game #3 since they unveiled it in March 2009.
Since then we have had to content ourselves with ogling at a single screenshot, a debut trailer as well as gameplay footage and a development video. Yesterday the developer promised that a new trailer for the third game was very imminent, and true to their word they have delivered that… and more.
Despite being released well over a year ago now (August 2008), Castle Crashers remains one of the most popular games on Xbox Live Arcade.
Back in June Castle Crashers reached one million players in less than ten months after the game’s release, making it the fastest growing XBLA game in history. And the developers, The Behemoth, even have the figures to prove that Castle Crashers was the top rated and best selling Xbox Live Arcade title as at September. In addition to these accolades Castle Crashers also found the time to win an XBLA Game of the Year award, receive two rounds of DLC and celebrate its first birthday.
Developers The Behemoth have released a new development video to prove they are still hard at work on the PSN version of Castle Crashers.
Here’s how the Painter Boss came to life: “The picture [below] shows the progression of the Painter Boss from it’s original conceptual form drawn by Tom Fulp to it’s final menacing overall wearing evil painter dude version. Sometimes Tom will have an idea for a boss that will require him to draw a placeholder image for Dan to base his version off of (or as we like to call it programmer art). A lot of the times the original looks nothing like the end result and this is one of those examples.”
We seriously can’t get enough of The Behemoth and their crazy new-and-upcoming game, the mysterious and temporarily named Game #3.
The Behemoth’s art director, the talented Dan Paladin, walks prospective players through a multiplayer session of Game #3 featuring the cute and mythical in-game character, the Golden Whale, which gleefully distributes golden coins for players to collect.
It looks super fun, and with the full allotment of players (Dan says that “up to four players on each team playing against each other” is currently functional) it’ll be an absolute riot!
Dan also hints at some of the story elements that’ll be present in the campaign mode for Game #3, so you should definitely watch the multiplayer walkthrough video below to catch up:
The Behemoth has just announced that two new picture packs for their popular Xbox Live Arcade title, Castle Crashers, are now available on Xbox Live Marketplace.
The Boss Pack and Animal Orb Pack will cost you 80 Microsoft Points each. The Boss Pack includes 5 gamer pictures of The Painter Boss, Medussa, Frost King, The Evil Wizard and the Corn Boss while the Animal Pack includes 5 gamer pictures of, you guessed it, animals from Castle Crashers.

The Behemoth has announced that Castle Crashers is the top rated and best selling Xbox Live Arcade title as of the 1st of September.
The developer thanked fans of the game for their support and promised to award them with free stuff as a “gesture of [their] appreciation” over the next few days.
See the below screenshot of Microsoft’s “nifty little filtering system” for proof.
The Behemoth (Castle Crashers, Alien Hominid HD) have released a new video for their new project, currently title Game3.
Although the video is short it does showcase a few new features that the developer has added to the game. First up you can “watch the monkeyman hide and duck and run” and secondly you will notice an “audience along the bottom of the screen.”
Can you believe it’s already been a year since Castle Crashers was launched on Xbox Live Arcade? It’s been a busy year too, one in which the 2D side-scrolling arcade brawler won Xbox Live Arcade Game of the Year Award, became the fastest growing XBLA game in history with one million players joining the action in less than ten months, received two rounds of downloadable content (the King Pack and the recently released Necromantic Pack), a patch and is even heading to the PS3 now!
Happy Birthday Castle Crashers! Here’s an updated trailer of the game to celebrate but keep an eye on The Behemoth’s development blog – there’s sure to be a surprise or two!
