EL33TONLINE: News tag archive: tgs2011
The Silent Hill series has always managed to carve out a unique space for itself in a market flooded with too many games trying to do the same thing. The atmospheric and lonely locales scattered around the run-down town of Silent Hill always seem to inspire moments of self-reflection - an unusual emotion to experience when playing a video game.
If you’re getting a bit twitchy, it may be because you haven’t yet had your daily dose of Battlefield 3 news, but don’t fret - we’re here to help you get through the shakes.
And Tokyo Game Show. Tokyo Game Show and El33tonline - joining forces to ‘enable’ Battlefield 3 addicts with a batch of awesome new screenshots and gameplay footage from the show floor of the massive Japanese gaming event.
We always knew that there’d be tons of new PlayStation Vita details revealed at the Tokyo Game Show, but what we’ve seen and heard over the last couple of days is even more exciting than I initially imagined.
One of the biggest features announced for PS Vita so far has to be its ability to play PS3 titles via Remote Play. The PSP has a similar feature which allows you to remotely browse your PS3’s XMB, listen to music and watch movies on its hard drive, or play PSone Classics. A couple of PS3 games such as Lair can even be played remotely on PSP.
You might have realised this by now, but Konami’s upcoming action title, NeverDead, is completely ridiculous.
Not only does Soul Calibur V include characters that we’ve come to know from previous entries to Namco Bandai’s epic and ‘historical’ weapon-based fighting series, but we’ll also be introduced to “new warriors who carry the burden of fate” in the game.
Very dramatic, but that’s nothing compared to this line:
“Chosen by history, a man becomes a warrior. Engraved into history, a warrior becomes a hero.”
Who are the warriors and heroes of Soul Calibur V? The latest screenshots and a lengthy gameplay trailer out of Tokyo Game Show 2011 pull the curtain back a little further:
Lightbox Interactive president Dylan Jobe has today posted on the PlayStation Blogs to unveil a brand new gameplay video showcasing the expansive combat opportunities featured in Starhawk, a multiplayer (and singleplayer) game of epic proportions.
Watch below as an orbital space station is built up before your very eyes and various factions battle for control while engaging in astounding dogfights around hostile environments (phew!):
After reading Lisa’s heart-stopping preview of Metro: Last Light last month, my excitement for 4A Games’ next wonderfully gloomy and apocalyptic first-person shooter increased by tenfold.
Tenfold! At least!
If you’re one of ‘those’ people that was reviled by the idea of Devil May Cry’s Dante sporting an all-black hairdo (as opposed to his iconic shock of white), then you may want to watch all the way to the end of the latest trailer for Ninja Theory’s DmC (also known as ‘the Devil May Cry reboot’) for a wink and a nod towards the developer’s future plans for the ‘do.
But seriously though. Does the hair colour of the storied protagonist really matter when the action looks so insanely cool?
Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy XIII-2 will see a release in Japan this year and early next year in Western territories, with details of a limited edition Lightning-themed PlayStation 3 console also revealed.
Visitors to the Tokyo Game Show were treated to the first public showing of F1 2011 for the PS Vita. In celebration of the first hands-on, Codemasters released the first video for the game along with four new screenshots.
Capcom has released a batch of new screenshots for Dragon’s Dogma, the publisher’s fantasy-themed open-world action adventure game.
A new story and gameplay trailer for the game also emerged from the Tokyo Game Show, giving us a glimpse into the stunning environments, massive enemies and dragons we can look forward to when the game releases for the Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2012.

Japan is the place to be this December when the PlayStation Vita makes its worldwide debut there on the 17th. Those lucky ladies and gentlemen with a bit of cash to spare after buying the feature-laden handheld and a game or two from the 26 titles on offer will probably be making a beeline for the accessories shelf, which will offer all sorts of official Sony extras for their precious new acquisition.
During Sony’s Tokyo Game Show 2011 press conference today, the company has announced a raft of new details regarding its upcoming handheld, the PS Vita, including expected battery life, the Japanese launch line-up of game, official pricing and availability options… and a release date in Japan.
At last year’s Tokyo Game Show, Suda 51 and Grasshopper Manufacture (No More Heroes, Shadows of the Damned) announced a Kinect-exclusive game under the working title of ‘Codename D,’ with a few strange images and a weird trailer included to up the intrigue.
Fast-forward to this year’s edition of Tokyo Game Show and we now have further details on the game, including a real name.
Being chased by a pack of towering dragons is never fun under any circumstance, but it can be thrilling, for sure, as evidenced by one of the first gameplay trailers to be released for Monster Hunter 4, the next game in Capcom’s enormous action RPG series.
Watch below as a character is chased across rolling plains and crumbling pillars by relentless scaly beasts in a thrilling (and fun) section of gameplay from the 3DS-exclusive Monster Hunter 4:
