TerRover is a delightful puzzle platform game from Creat Studios, a developer that has rapidly become a PS3 and PlayStation Network expert with quality releases like SkyFighter, Smash Cars and Digger HD releasing in quick succession. TerRover, however, could just be one of the studio’s best, most polished and well-rounded titles to date, and is certainly my personal favourite of the company’s current selection of games available on the PS Store.
What exactly is a ‘puzzle platform game,’ though? As far as TerRover is concerned, it’s a game in which you need to methodically make your way through an environment using all of your available skills – you can’t simply race through a level and be done with it (Sonic, I’m looking at you!). There are obstacles and areas that require a modicum of thought (and at times, quick fingers) to get through, tasking you with being very familiar with your abilities, and to use them at the right time.
The closest comparison to TerRover would be a game like Trials HD, or an old PC game called Elastomania… but forget that old chaff! TerRover has a personality and style all its own, and underneath its shiny, cutesy exterior lies a challenging game of thought, patience and grinning robot rovers, and while it can be frustrating at times, it can also be entirely satisfying!

TerRover, the stylised 2D physics based all-terrain vehicle platform game from Creat Studios, is now available on the US PlayStation Store for $14.99.
The game sees players controlling a small off-road vehicle, using their “rover’s wheel rotation, pivot center, gravity system and weapons to overcome obstacles” while exploring “40 stages of puzzling arcade levels” in “five distinct worlds with unique art styles” to discover a new planetary home.
Creat Studios latest project TerRover will be arriving on the US PlayStation Network tomorrow for $14.99.
TerRover is a stylised, 2D physics- and vehicle based platform game that sees players taking control of a small off-road vehicle as they explore new planets and collect valuable items. You’ll get “weapons and tools and a chassis equipped with rocket launchers, magnet cables and more to assist in collecting all the mechanical parts scattered about and discovering the secret areas and hidden passages.”
TerRover is the next game from Creat Studios, a stylised vehicle-based platformer that sees players taking control of a small off-road vehicle and navigating it through a series of different terrains on new planets, collecting valuable items along the way.
But this isn’t just any ordinary vehicle, it’s a TerRover, complete with a little head and face that changes expressions depending on what situations the players find themselves in. It will get cross when it’s stuck and be happy when it’s collecting nuts, as you can see in the first gameplay trailers from the game. This is a physics-based game so your little TerRover will be able to jump over obstacles as well as climb or fall to different heights within a level, spinning and moving obstacles in order to progress.
This is where the head’s importance comes in because the position of the TerRover’s head can be changed during the game, with the TerRover accelerating forwards or backwards depending on where the head is positioned. Of course you’ll also be able to move the position of the head from the top of the vehicle to the bottom depending on the TerRover’s orientation.
In addition to a meaty-sounding single player campaign that includes five planets and 40 levels, TerRover will also include three different types of local multiplayer modes for up to four players.
Intrigued by what we’ve seen of TerRover so far, El33tonline caught up with Creat Studios to dig deeper into the nuts and bolts behind this little off-roader. Read the Q and A with Olga Sokolova, Producer of TerRover and Scott Hyman, Vice President of Development, both from Creat Studios, below:

According to the press release TerRover will launch players into a “surreal mash-up of unique cartoon graphics and a 2D physics universe.” The game will see players taking control of a small off-road vehicle with the aim of exploring new planets and collecting valuable items.

Now we’re able to clap our eyes on some in-game footage from TerRover, showing off those interesting gameplay details in motion, as the physics-based nature of the game is also revealed in full force - if you enjoyed Trials HD, this may be your next game!
