The PC version of L.A. Noire was released just two weeks ago but you can already pick it up for the bargain price of $24.99 as part of Steam’s ‘daily deal’.
The offer expires in around six hours so you’ll need to be quick about it. You can view the special deal over here.
PC gamers weren’t too pleased when Rockstar Games gave them the cold shoulder last year by refusing to publish Red Dead Redemption on their platform of choice. Thankfully the publisher isn’t going to make the same mistake twice, as earlier this year they announced their intention to bring the critically acclaimed console title L.A. Noire to PC.
Rockstar Games has just released a quick (but very intense) trailer for LA Noire’s next downloadable case, ‘Reefer Madness,’ where Detective Cole Phelps and Vice desk partner Roy Earle will be tasked with taking down “one of the city’s biggest narcotics rings.”
Prepare yourself:
Rockstar Games has just revealed plans for new downloadable content for its popular crime thriller, LA Noire. We say popular because the game just finished top of the UK Software Charts yet again this week, and because we here at El33tonline enjoyed it too of course (read our review here).
With a reported seven-year development period behind it, Rockstar and Team Bondi’s LA Noire is now available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in South Africa and the world.
But what is LA Noire? Let’s investigate.
This is my favourite time following the release of the latest massive videogame – the graphics comparisons between different platforms, in most cases across Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Why? Because gamers go ballistic!
If one version of the game dares to look better on one platform over the other, however infinitesimally, the community goes wild as PS3 and Xbox 360 fans tout ‘their’ console’s superiority… or bemoan ‘their’ console’s shortcomings.
Performance issues on different platforms are another issue entirely…
As most everyone that keeps an eye on the wonderful world of videogames must surely know by now, Rockstar and Team Bondi’s crime thriller, LA Noire, is all set for release next week around the world, making its way into North America on May 17th, and then in Europe, the UK and South Africa on May 20th.
El33tonline’s previous looks at LA Noire will easily clue you in on this astounding looking and incredibly intriguing action adventure game, and you can find out about protagonist Cole Phelps’ rise through the ranks of the LAPD, the powerful performance capture technology behind the game, and more.
For now, though, keep that Hype O’ Meter revving with the launch trailer for LA Noire:
Rockstar is known for its overwhelmingly massive open-world titles, with the most recent of these games being the enormous Red Dead Redemption. With the release of LA Noire this month, the studio will be continuing this fine tradition as developer Team Bondi has worked to create a game of equal proportions to Rockstar’s epics.
LA Noire is so big, in fact, that it can’t even fit on one DVD. Or two, for that matter.
Speaking to Kotaku’s Stephen Totilo, Team Bondi’s Jeronimo Barrera explained the expansive size of LA Noire:
The release of Rockstar and Team Bondi’s crime thriller action adventure game, LA Noire, is only a few weeks away now and anticipation for the title grows in leaps and bounds with every trailer that the pair makes available.
If a videogame is affiliated with Rockstar (Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption), you can bet on at least one thing: The voice acting contributed to the game by real life performers is going to be best-in-class, top-notch and amazing.
With LA Noire, not only is this voice acting still of the highest quality, but thanks to new technology able to capture the actors’ facial expressions during recording, the performers’ physical acting is also incredible.
By now we would sincerely hope that you’ve managed to find out about LA Noire, a crime thriller action adventure game and the next incredible title from Rockstar and the developers at Team Bondi.
If you haven’t heard of LA Noire, don’t waste any time in wading through El33tonline’s previous coverage of the game for tons of information, screenshots and gameplay videos! If you have heard of it, then head on down below to discover an exciting bonus mission from the game available to those who pre-order (in certain regions of the world):
