Maker of all things ‘Worms,’ Team 17 has gone and formally announced a new entry to the long-running (much-loved) series that will once again let us direct those insane homicidal grubs to their own demise, but not before destroying a few other wriggly varmints in a dazzling display of explosions.
Worms Ultimate Mayhem is billed as a “souped-up, re-vamped, high definition reimagining of Worms 3D and Worms 4: Mayhem,” and aims to bring both of these titles together into one “incredibly over-stuffed, over-the-top package.”
Worms fans rejoice because a new Battle Pack for Worms 2: Armageddon is now available on the PlayStation Network!
The Battle Pack is a new downloadable content pack from developers Team17 that delivers new weapons and utilities, a new single player campaign as well as tons of new customisation features, new trophies/awards and a new game mode.
Team 17 Software has announced that Alien Breed: Impact will be coming to the PlayStation Network and Steam this summer.
Described as a “heavily expanded edition” of the Xbox Live Arcade title, Alien Breed: Evolution is, Alien Breed: Impact is a popular sci-fi arcade shooter that resurrects a classic franchise and includes new features arising from community suggestions.
The first episode of Team 17’s (Worms) Alien Breed Evolution will become available on Xbox LIVE in two weeks time, and to celebrate, the developer has released a mess of screenshots and a few trailers for you to gawk at.
Alien Breed Evolution (Episode 1) is a re-imagining of Team 17’s classic alien breed top-down corridor shooter, Alien Breed, which released in 1991 to great acclaim. Now, 18 years later, gamers will be able to get their hands on the next entry to the franchise on December 16th on Xbox LIVE Marketplace for the measly sum of 800 MS Points.
After looking over the following screenshots, and watching the two included videos, you’ll understand why that amount of Space Bucks is so measly.
While the game is currently exclusive to the Xbox 360, it’ll become available soon enough on PC and PS3 next year, and features singleplayer and cooperative play while using Unreal Engine technology to raise “the quality and production bar for original digital download titles.”
Take it away, screenshots and videos:
Team17 Software are giving Worms fans the chance to design a fort and have it added into the Xbox 360 version of Worms 2: Armageddon.
In case you haven’t tried it yet, the Fort mode sees players battling it out on a landscape made up of two Forts located opposite one another. With players Worms placed on their chosen Fort, the last team standing wins!
Developer Team 17 (of Worms fame) has announced that a remake of Alien Breed is on the way as a download-only project.
Titled Alien Breed Evolution, the game promises to be an Unreal 3 powered next-gen title that will help to “raise the production of download-only titles” and a “drop-dead gorgeous retro-modern remake” of the original Alien Breed which was released in 1991.
The latest word from developer Team 17 is that Worms 2: Armageddon will be arriving on Xbox Live Arcade next week Wednesday, the 1st of July. It will cost 800 Microsoft Points.
Based on the popular Worms Armageddon which was released in 1999, Worms 2: Armageddon will include new weapons (for example, the Electro Magnet, Bunker Buster and Buffalo of Lies) as well as cult favourites from Armageddon (such as the Super Sheep, Holy Hand Grenade and Napalm).
Team 17 has just released a new trailer for their upcoming XBLA title Worms 2: Armageddon.
Worms 2: Armageddon will be invading XBLA next month but stay tuned because the publisher promised to announce the exact release date and pricing shortly.
