PlayStation Network LogoThe European PlayStation Store update is dominated with Move related goodies this week, not surprising given that the PlayStation Move launched across Europe yesterday and hits shelves in the UK and South Africa tomorrow.

First up is Tumble, the new game that lets you use the Move controller to balance, build and destroy. You’ll also be able to test your hand at landing aircraft using the Move controller with Flight Control HD. And then there’s also nine demos for Move titles for you to enjoy, along with normal demos for FIFA 11, PES 2011 and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. If you own EyePet or High Velocity Bowling you might like to know that you can download Move update packs too.

There’s not a lot more to say about Tales of Monkey Island. It’s a truly excellent series of episodic adventures that follow the story of Guybrush Threepwood on his quest to rid the Pirate Isles of the Pox of LeChuck. This episode, while still inordinately clever and graced with the presence of Stan and his flamboyant and cleverly-rendered jacket, isn’t quite as fresh as the previous ones, but does set things up for a most intriguing finale.

Telltale Games has announced that Chapter 4 of Tales of Monkey Island will be available this Friday, the 30th of October.

The fourth chapter, titled ‘The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood,’ sees the hero returning to Flotsam Island but his fate is unclear. Don’t miss the next ‘Wonder What Happens’ video by Telltale Games – it’s really hilarious and if you still need convincing you can read our reviews of Lair of the Leviathan, The Siege of Spinner Cay and Launch of the Screaming Narwhal to find out more about the Mighty Pirate. The first three chapter of Tales of Monkey Island are also available on WiiWare.

The Tales grow episode by episode into a classic in adventure story-telling. It might be the hilarity of the closing credits I’ve just watched that makes me use superlatives like “hilariously funny” and “masterfully written”, but I don’t think I’ll be too ashamed of my words when the laughs from Murray’s bodiless antics simmer down to a sporadic mild chuckle.

I enjoyed The Launch of the Screaming Narwhal for mostly living up to its Monkey Island heritage and for the promise of future episodes. I loved The Siege of Spinner Cay for one particularly ingenious puzzle and the wonderfully original Vaycalians. But episode 3, The Lair of the Leviathan, is of an even higher quality: it is uniformly brilliant in every facet. Its scenario is crazier, its writing is cleverer, its puzzles are both more ingenious and less frustrating, its humour is more humorous, its graphics are more graphical and its sound is more good. If you’re waiting to see where the Tales go before putting down your cash for the whole season then wait no more! The quality has improved with every episode so far and the next one is called The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood – how could that not be the best thing ever!
