Thanks to Nintendo South Africa and El33tonline’s competition last year, however, we’re very happy to announce the winner of Super Mario 3D Land for 3DS, as well as that awesome themed Mario mug!
There have been lots of exciting things afoot this week on El33tonline, with a handful of reviews, a huge batch of new competitions and loads of great news coming down the pipe, and that’s all before mentioning this week’s events happening all over South Africa!
Not only did El33tonline’s friends and readers rock Gears of War 3 this past Wednesday, but Lisa and Wayne are in Cape Town today to attend 2upGamers’ Second Wave gaming event to chat with our friends in the Mother City and hand out more goodies - be sure to say hello if you’re there!
Also, gamers in Durban should look forward to a meet-up on Saturday, while Johannesburg gamers can get together next week, too!

How is Nintendo trying to catch up with other consoles in terms of online functionality?
With the latest firmware update for the 3DS, you’re now able to easily join a friend’s online game pending an invite… if that game supports it, that is.
It is a fact of the videogaming world that the worst Mario games are still top tier games when compared to everything else. And fortunately Super Mario 3D Land is not one of the worst Mario games, it’s one of the better ones. Which is to say it’s one of the most fun games I’ve played this year. Ever inventive and laser-focused on providing fun and surprises for the player, Super Mario 3D Land is a must-own title for the 3DS.

Following a similar announcement for Europe last month, it’s been revealed that South Africa will also enjoy an additional two 3DS colour choices this holiday when the Coral Pink and Ice White models of Nintendo’s latest handheld become available.
Nintendo Europe has today announced that the 3DS will soon become available in an additional two colours in the region: Ice White and Coral Pink.
Nintendo fans in South Africa, it’s time to get extra eager because Core Gaming (South African distributors of Nintendo games and consoles) has today confirmed dates and prices for a host of upcoming 3DS, DS and Wii titles in the country, with dates announced for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Mario Kart 7 and Kirby Mass Attack, amongst others.
We’ve also recently received word about the impressive list of Nintendo 3DS games that will be on show at rAge 2011 this week!
Nintendo has announced release dates for Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land.
Following a recent conference held by Nintendo, fresh new details and media have been released for two upcoming 3DS games, Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7, with release dates and information on upcoming 3DS features included in the mix.
Let’s jump in, shall we?
Nintendo has renamed its two Mario 3DS titles and stamped rough release dates on both games.
Super Mario 3DS will henceforth be known as Super Mario 3D Land and will be available this November. Meanwhile Mario Kart 3DS will now be known as Mario Kart 7 and will be hitting shelves this December.
As a result of poorer than expected worldwide sales for Nintendo’s 3DS, the company has announced significant price cuts for its latest handheld, effective in August, in the hopes of increasing unit sales ahead of the all-important Holiday period in November and December this year.
